Inspection mishap what to do/how to go about it?

You think $140/hr is top dollar? Hope you never have to take your car to a mechanic.

Also this is a PERFECT example of why no AnP wants to work GA. Laughable rate (the AnP is most likely no even getting $25/hr) and when there is an accident (I hope OP doesn't think its intentional) pearls get clutched.

I guess I am kind of numb to damage... its just part of business. I see so many parts being damaged at work that its just part of the job. Not because the AnP is lazy or didn't follow procedures, but things just happen.

As far a repairs as long as its done properly who cares? Its most likly a minor repair. As for the 'better than before' crowd... lol wut?

Third rate A/P's work at smaller airports and repair facilities, lower salaries, and are not as skilled as the above.

I know a couple of VERY QUALIFIED IA A/Ps that just never had the desire to go work for a large corporation. Same in a number of industries besides Aviation, so no clue where you got you opinion from, but it is far from correct for all people. I went through the corporate ladder and ended up a VP of Engineering and Operations and really got tired of the politics. Went back to being a consultant and was very happy again. Most of my clients were large corporations, so I guess I was pretty good at it even though I was what you'd call a "third rate" since I no longer actually worked for one of the major corporations.

After gear test, with the gear lever in up, and master on, the plane was towed. One gear retracted.

With the hydraulic pressure trying to retract, the lock was unlatched, and as they made a turn, the side load plus hydraulic pressure took the gear up. Makes sense to me.

IF the mechanic has an otherwise good job performance, he should not lose his job.
What about the throttle lever warning horn? If the master is on, the throttle closed, and the gear switch in the UP position with weight on wheels you get a horn.

Even if the emergency handle is latched up (always on) you will get a caution light.... but that's not the same as a blaring horn.

Most likely a 'very qualified' IA is not gonna be in the hangar schlepping planes... that's skut work for new guys.

As another poster mentioned, we have ONE side of the story from someone with a bias that seems to be mx are out to get him and they all lie!

Could the shop have made a mistake? Yes. So what, fix it and get on with life. Notice how three pages of posts have NOT fixed his airplane LOL

Notice the shop was never mentioned. Name them. Maybe they will post their side.

Why do so many people jump to the conclusion that when someone makes a generalization that they mean it applies 100% to everyone and every situation.

Take for instance a statement which I hear very often like "People are Stupid". Does anyone think that means EVERYONE is stupid? No, of course not. It is generalization. There are always exceptions.

Emergency gear extension I said. Mooney had an emergency extension spring that could break in use. Service Bulletin on it.
Couldn’t get new spring. Of course gear retraction test is required. Swinging the gear. Adjusting the doors lube it.
That spring also holds the gear up, so it gets used every time you fly.

And yes, emergency gear extension test is on the Mooney check list.
