There has probably been a thread of this (god forbid I get PG or KA550 upset because of yet another thread), but I need input of supplies for the Cirrus.

We need cowl plugs because there are none. I purchased:

1. Cleaning caddy
2. Pitot cover (there wasn't one)
3. Micro fiber cloth wipes
4. CO detector
5. Phillips xc oil (6 qts)
6. Camguard
7. Disposable funnels
8. oil valve (sold by Sporty's)
9. Multi sump (old fuel tester did not have a strainer)

I need cleaning supplies suggestions? - windows/windshields...Plexus? and for the aircraft itself. Zep40? BAMM?

Anything else I missed? Thinking about microfiber rags/cleaning mitt. Thinking about low profile chocks.

Thanks in advance.

Yet another one as predicted. Pretty soon will need an entire forum for him.

Pledge? Did you mean Plexus?

No

Lemon pledge, it's the choice of more working pilots and high time dudes, cheap and works great.

You'll also want a 5gal bucket with a lid, sockets and a torque wrench, screw driver set, safety wire and safety wire pliers, box of nitrate gloves and come coveralls.

Forgot to ask when we spoke this morning, what caddy did you get.
My cargo area is a bit of a cluster and I need to get something to organize it a bit.

Thanks.

Not as much as we need space for your ego. As expected, a comment from you with no value whatsoever.

Bryan,

Good speaking with you this morning. I got the caddy through the Cirrus store.

Do you know there is an ignore feature for both posters and threads? Suggest you use it, or ignore the old fashioned way.

Buy your oil by the case from a local distributor.

As far as the funnels go, I've always just cut the bottom of a qt of oil and used that.

So don't use internet stores like aircraft spruce or Sportys?
Arthur,

I've personally never found an Internet store to be competitive for oil especially once the shipping is added in. Find your local oil distributor and buy it by the case. That's always been the cheapest (in numerous locations where I've lived or worked) for me over the years.

Some Sam's stores have Aeroshell. Use their web page to find it

Cheapie shop vac. For cleaning, we use some stuff from Costco in a yellow bottle... greased lightning? Works well. Spray bottles for diluted cleaning solution.... Some sort of handheld light for in the hangar.

The airplane will occasionally have to stay outside, get a good canopy cover.

Knee pads for when you...................... buy cirrus parts? I mean clean the belly and sump fuel, check brakes, inflate tires etc. :D

Take note: That was a moderator speaking. And our hard working moderators have acted to remove a couple of problems lately.

Thanks mods!

For oil funnel, I use Philips like you and the cases usually (always?) comes with a little plastic tube that attaches to the bottle and makes for easy pouring. I wrap it with an old terry cloth towel to keep it from oiling up the rest of the stuff in that box.

For cleaning, I use http://planeperfect.us and find it all to be great stuff (though the kit I bought had a leather cleaner that I haven't used). I don't have a caddy that is worth recommending. Just grabbed something at target.

I took the CO card out of my plane because I couldn't convince myself they are reliable.

I'm absolutely convinced of camguard and use it on every change so I don't have to worry if I got a stretches without flying. If you are going to fly every week, you don't need it. If you are going to fly every six weeks, you need it. There is a grey area in the middle and I just decided that I didn't care to try and predict the future so I just use it every time.

Good comment/point John. I appreciate the efforts of the mods to try to keep it civil in here. I really wanted to go off on those two, but decided to bite my tongue and somewhat ignore them. I do appreciate those who contribute pearls of wisdom, and ignore those who don't. I do look at comments people post on other threads if they are being uhh....somewhat nasty. I find it gives me a good baseline in dealing with them and anticipating what to expect. I hope they realize that they are judged by their actions and comments. Regarding everyone else, I sincerely appreciate everyone who have helped me out with constructive comments and encouragement during this journey of late.

oil-store.com had better prices than the typical players. Just bought 2 cases of Phillipps 20w50. It was cheaper with shipping than 1 or 3 cases (per qt), but overall their prices seem to be much better. Will be trying cam guard as well. I just throw all my stuff in a big tool bag. No fancy tote for me.

Also vouch on the Lemon Pledge. The bugs just dissolve right off. No papertowels, I just retire old cotton t-shirts by cutting them into rags. Great for cleaning iPad screens and sunglasses too.

Well you did start SEVENTEEN threads about the Cirrus. That was a bit of overkill.

I use simple green for cleaning the plane except the windows. On the windows, I only use plain water, rub with my bare hand (no rings or watches) and wipe with a microfiber cloth. All window cleaning movements are in the direction of flight to minimize glare. I use Colonite 845 to wax each year. I wipe the leading edges down with a wet cloth after each flight and clean the glass.

Again Ed you can't keep on topic can you? This is about initial supplies. Also seventeen is a tad exaggerated don't you think? Why don't you either stick to the thread topic or don't comment if you have nothing of value to add.

I knew you Cirrus drivers were an elite bunch, but do you really need a caddy?

HAHAHA!!!!!!

No, it's not an exaggeration at all. I went to your user profile, and looked up every thread you started that had something to do with the Cirrus. There was 17 of them. And that didn't include the financing thread, or another thread or two that were tenuously related.

I will say this. At least you finally bought your plane so you won't call up a seller who has all of the equipment listed on the ad he placed, ask him an hour's worth of questions, and only after wasting an hour of his time do you finally ask "Oh, does it have an autopilot? Because an autopilot is my #1 go/no go item on the plane." No it doesn't have an autopilot. If it had a ****ing autopilot, it would have been listed!

You want suggestion for an initial supply?

Though you may need to get an STC to wear it while flying your Cirrus.

I know, call an A&P, ask him an hours worth of questions that have nothing to do with obtaining said STC, and then bring it up.

Their eye's outside is much better than Prist and the other plastic windshield cleaners I've used.

One thing I've found useful (especially if you don't have water in your hangar or isn't in a hangar at all) are grease removing disposable hand towels. Gojo and others make them. I'm a grease magnet, if there's some on the plane somewhere I'll put my hand in it.

Thanks guys!

We're running a promotion with EAA beginning tomorrow on our Essentials kit, which is every spray we make, plus microfiber towels for 20% off. That deal will expire on the 13th. Even though the ads don't run until tomorrow, the deal is already live in the system. http://planeperfect.us/pages/eaa-members-only-special

You're starting to get into the creeper stage, Ed. What did Arthur have for breakfast this morning?

Let it go. I'd much rather have 17 threads on airplane ownership than one thread on coleslaw.

It was actually a discussion between a few of us offline on how many threads were being started about a single transaction. We were all like WTF when we counted them up.

And you know that I only have one stalkee - 6PC.
