Good for him! I fully admit there was a time where I didn’t think he’d ever win another major.

Third round leader Molinari folded. He was the only player in the top 15 who was over par today. That’s not how you win majors.

What amazes me is how everyone has forgotten about his infidelities from 10 years ago. He went from being some immoral, sex addicted playboy that everyone hated, to America’s golden boy again. Anyone would half a brain would know that sort of thing goes on with top tier athletes. I could care less about his sex life. I don’t like him because he’s a stingy, arrogant @ss! :eek:

Yeah, I definitely haven’t forgot. He screwed up his personal life and it definitely showed on the course. I just think it’s cool to see him back in the game and winning a major, which a lot of folks never thought would happen again. Although, I would’ve been just as happy to see one of the other American’s take it.

Molinari choked big time going into the water those two different times.
 
Golf is an old mans game. Everyone cheers the 44 year old guy who refused to give it up after everyone thought he was washed up.

Thing about him is that he stared Tiger down before and beat him at The Open. I thought he had a chance to keep it together. Unexplainable how 4 ppl in last two threesomes dumped it in the water on a short par three.

No doubt but you can’t deny what a big deal it was in the headlines. Why even bother to chastise him only to forgive and welcome him back years later. Never understood that thinking. He’s still the same person. Why not just accept the fact that powerful men cheat and just move on?

I'm sure it's like pilots and airplanes, you never have enough.

It was great seeing him out there playing at a high level. And to do it in a way he's never won before (trailing after 3 rounds). Tiger brought the world crashing down on himself (sort of...with lots of help). I don't sympathize with him for that. But he's been through a lot (personally and physically) and to battle back to win at the Masters like he did today is pretty awesome. If he never wins another tournament, today was still an great achievement for him, and the pure joy after he sealed it was amazing to see.
 
I still think he’s a jerk. A good golfer again but still a jerk. Wonder how long he waits before he fouls up his personal life again.

You have done good points, except for one: weak men cheat. Powerful men have integrity. Cowards in positions of authority cheat. Slimeballs exist all throughout society. So do the best of humanity. ;)

Well, I wouldn’t call him a coward for cheating. Possibly weak in that he couldn’t resist the temptation though.

Look at the early NASA Astronauts. They were cheating. Read a Blue Angel pilot autobiography a while back. On the road, those guys were cheating. Heck, most powerful man in Afghanistan (Gen Petraeus) was cheating was I was there. All good men of character but being put on a pedestal and the constant pressure and loneliness of the job weakens the moral fiber for some. Probably would for a lot of us if put in that position. Definitely not cowards.

I respect Tiger because of his determination and hard earned skill. As a person, I don’t think he was raised with much compassion or basic social skills. He cusses on the course. Rarely does he spend time giving autographs. Rarely do you see him giving fist bumps. He’s a fan’s player who I believe, doesn’t appreciate the fans. I don’t hate the guy. Anyone who’s honed their craft to the level of excellence as he has, gets my respect. Doesn’t mean I’ll ever pull for him though.

There’s nobody perfect out there, and always someone will be around to dig up dirt on whoever runs for public office...but that’s a different subject best left out of this forum.

As for Tiger, this whole thing shows how people will be there to tear you down when you’re the weakest, and there to build you up when you’re the strongest. As a golfer, I think he rocks, but as a person, I think he stinks on many levels...but his past is behind him, so I’ll try not to dwell on his faults, since I’m not free of them myself.

It’s possible to a great warrior, or realtor, or golfer, or truck driver, etc, and still be weak when it comes to cheating. Great character and integrity comes from doing the right thing, even when no one will know. Cheaters are not great leaders. They may be great at what they do, but a breakdown of moral fiber is a breakdown of moral fiber. Justify it anyway you want, but for every cheater there are hundreds who didn’t. It’s a lot like justifying small infractions of the law. “It was only a couple ounces of weed,” or “I don’t have my green card yet.” Still doesn’t make it right. If you can’t live up to your own word (ie. commitment) then why would anyone want to believe that you truly stand behind anything else? Yay, golf. Whisky is a far better Scottish product. ;)

I agree with your sentiment, but your numbers are wrong. Roughly 25-75% of American men cheat, and roughly 15-50% of American women, depending on the study. Yes, the numbers are all over the place, but cheaters make up far more than 1% of the population. Those who are honest and successful are worth emulating and holding in esteem. If someone "falls" but has integrity afterwards, they should be forgiven as well. Again, I'm not disagreeing with the rest of your comment.

Is it supposed to be hush hush or something??? I just find odd how so many people criticized his lifestyle but yet today, they’re all bandwagon Tiger fans. He’s more popular now than he’s ever been.

They called it a public scandal on tv this morning, f'n fake news. What happened was between him and his wife and only affected them and their close family. It became public because she went berserk and tried to kill him with a crowbar. He's a golf player, it's none of my business what he does personally, nor do I really care. I don't know him. We have no idea what the true story is. Nobody is perfect, nobody. Some are more imperfect than others.

I was happy to see him win and I think it is a great thing for golf.
 
I don't care much about golf, and even less about Tiger Woods. I'm just glad I bet that $85K.

Actually, I never hated him for that. I certainly didn't like the fact that he represented himself as a good family man when he was not. If he had been "Tiger the playboy", there would have been just fine. And he looked genuinely happy, and maybe a little shocked, after the win.

She did not try to kill him with a crowbar. It was a three wood, I believe.
 
I am not and never was a Tiger fan. Nothing to do with his character, or anything about him personally. He helped get people (re) interested in golf, but that made golfing horrible for the rest of us. There's a certain etiquette in golf, and I'm not talking being quiet when someone's in their back swing, or not moving when putting etc, but an etiquette on the course for those not in your group that helps keep the pace of play going. Things like don't figure out your scores on the green for 5 minutes while the group behind you is waiting to hit. Be ready to hit your ball soon after you partner(s) has/have so you don't make the group behind you wait. Don't take 1 club from the cart walk 30 yards to your ball, determine you want a different club, walk back to the cart, then back to your ball again making the people behind you wait unnecessarily, the list goes on.

The problem with Tiger is there was a huge rush of people that thought "well hell I can do that" and rushed out onto the golf course. Now I have no problem with a full course. That's good, means it's going to be around for a while. But when a buddy and I can WALK 18 and play in well under 3 hours (it might have been under 2, and it helped we were only 3 over combined) and now it takes over 6+ hours because you have a bunch of people with no clue about how to play the game (and I don't mean b/c you aren't single digit handicap, I mean etiquette wise) because they saw Tiger on TV. Well, it sucks. Imagine a line of planes at the pump and every single one of them pumped fuel, and then went into the FBO to get a snack, check weather, and pee before coming out to move their plane away from the pumps. Yeah, that's what it was like right after ESPN decided it was going to be nothing but Tiger Tiger Tiger 24/7. I also didn't like the 24/7 Tiger coverage. Same thing goes for Mike Trout in baseball. Non stop barrage of Trout Trout Trout, just makes me want to hate the guy even though it's not his fault. Oh, and @timwinters , he's (Trout) white so it ain't a white guy hating Tiger because he's black thing.

Golf is a smart man's game, but in terms of what's happening on the course, the younger players are generally the leaders.

I guess you didn’t read what I posted. My dislike is because of his behavior as a person, not his infidelities.

I don’t get on a bandwagon because someone is good at their game. It called rooting for a player because of who they are and not just how they perform in sports. The total package.
