Happy Wright Brothers Day

Weather is going down today, so I had a nice evening flight yesterday. Does that count?

113 years actually.

No C of A, no insurance, no medical, no type rating, no tech log sign offs, no transponder, not even a sectional. Worst of all no PoA forum for advice. Its a miracle they survived. ;)

Right now they were all standing around back slapping and high fives until a gust of wind took the airplane.

Congratulations, Orville and Wilbur

I think celebrations call for a leather jacket, silk scarf, and a flask of bourbon or better yet, rum in the pocket to keep you warm while cruising the skies.

Gotta go find the flask and the airplane keys...

You don't need a medical for an LSA if you have a drivers license - but did they have one of those?

I wish I could of flown down to the monument at Kill Devil Hills today but the weather was rough. My daughter and I will probably go down there next week if the weather gets better. Tough this time of year.

Happy Wright Brothers Day to All!!!

They are true American Heroes.

Btw read David McCullough's book on the Wright Bros this year. Great book and amazing story leading up to the flight. Should be required reading :)

I second this. A lot of little known information in the book.

The most important day in December! Happy Holidays!!

I celebrated Wright Brothers day by taking my 3 year old granddaughter up for her first flight. I bought her a child size pink headset for the occasion. She was captivated by the view and also loved singing over the intercom. It was gusting to 20 today and pretty bumpy descending to land but she was a trooper.

This was yet another day in history that not a single student of mine had a clue about. D-day. Nope, Moon landing. Nope, End of ww2. Nope, teacher appreciation day. Nope, On and on and on. I wonder what the heck they learn in school these days?

On my written final test for freshman, one of the questions is " who was the first person to step foot on the moon", multiple choice answers were ; Neil diamond , Neil Armstrong , Louise Armstrong , some commie bastard. 30% of them got it wrong!

Come on, everyone knows Gustave Whitehead was the first man on the moon. Who are you trying to kid?

Noted. I will correct my test and include the inventor of the airplane and inventor of the moon walk!

None of the above, we all know that it was a hoax. Unlike chemtrails.

I'm sorry Geoff, I'm going to have to ask you to reevaluate your time here, we do not support your negative views towards great accomplishments in American history. I'm going to have to pur you in a time out, then you will have to clean the chalk board and the erasers!

You still use a chalkboard???

A lot of the classrooms where I work still have chalk boards.

They work.

Chalk doesn't dry out like markers.
I have a giant white board that I don't like all that much and I have one of those "smart boards" that is useless and pointless so I use it as my video screen for the projector. The issue with the whiteboards is that they don't last all that long and after a couple years they start to "ghost", where the markers don't really remove the, serve and leave a faint imprint that shows through. Chalk just has this nice nostalgic feel to it.
