I was registering on a website and had to enter my gender. Here were my choices (full disclosure: this was for an event in ultra left wing Boulder):
  • Male
  • Female
  • Transgender
  • Gender-fluid (huh??)
  • Non-binary (huh??)
  • Prefer not to answer
Now I'm confused....

What happened to the all of the above choices?

I thought it said Gander and I instantly felt Newfoundland

Things were much simpler long ago. There were pitchers and there were catchers. Now folks play for all teams...

Hmm. Both sexes have gender fluid. I like it. That gets my vote.

What was the question?

Non-binary sounds good. How about tetradecimal ?

A website wants to know, eh?

Whatever you respond, that info will be out there, maybe forever, and maybe sold.

I’d bet your personal data will sell for a higher price if you choose fluid or non-binary than if you choose not to answer.

Gender fluid...is that next to the blinker fluid at Autozone?

At the risk of being obvious, why are they even asking?

It is worse than that....the "experts" say there are 60+ genders....i mean WTF? Tell them you feel offended by leaving your gender off and demand a safe place

That's like the old trope 'the eskimos have 100 names for snow'. I guess we now have '60 words for human'.

You may want to be careful with your insensitive use of the word 'fork'. With its obvious violent connotations you may trigger one of the snowflakes and throw them into a full blown trigglypuff attack.

It's not you, it's them.

So how many names are there for snowflakes?

Actually I'm going to start a new thing.

I'll have my girl sexually identify as a service dog, that way she'll be able to fly with me for free.

What's the airline going to do?
Discriminate against my disability, or discriminate against her gender? Sounds like a great way to save money.

Lol, have you run this by her yet? Please, please, please video the reaction if you haven't.

I'll have to get her the collar and service dog tag first, just make it seem like some kinky thing and she'll be cool, once she figures it's me trying to save $200 she get a little slappy lol

Select one:

A. I know what parts I have and what they do.

B. I don't know what parts I have or what they do.

C. I wish I had different parts so I could see what they do

Because rather than just answering with what he knows he is and moving on, he wants to poke fun at the choices that others might choose.

I think you missed the point (or, perhaps, evaded it); I question why the folks who promulgated the question feel the need to ask.

Th OP didn’t state the type of event. Maybe that would clear it up. Personally, I don’t like demographic questions.

Well I'm offended that they didn't include the full list of 107 gender choices. How dare they discriminate.

Oops, make that 108 now. And 109....I'm sure it will be 110 by the time I post this...

That’s a really good point. It makes sense to ask if gender is actually what we’ve historically understood it to be. But, if gender is simply a social construct, as the question itself likely presumes, then why does it matter? It then becomes not really a question about gender but a question about psychology.

Who knows? I certainly don’t. The OP didn’t state what the site was and as Everskyward stated, that might clear things up. Regardless, OP can choose to answer the question as he sees fit or not answer it.

I also do not care for many demographic questions that various organizations want answered but I know how to answer them without ridiculing the other options. And if my decision to not answer a question disqualifies me from participating then so be it.

Well it is Boulder so they absolutely must be sensitive to the needs and wants of their website audience. Unless being sensitive offends them then they don’t have to be sensitive.

How can they discriminate against genders that they disapprove of and reward those that they do if they don't ask?

It's also a banner showing others where they stand.
