From HR: No more swearing at work!

A little bit of pull on the MC (who do put on the party, after all) is not a bad thing for the community. After all, a party without partygoers is a boring thing indeed.

After review, the management council has decided to restore this thread. We want to continue to provide an environment that fosters the hangar talk this site became popular with. I assure you that we're trying to identify the changes that need to be made to do just that.

Jesse,

Thank you for the communication and your work on the MC - Who'd have thunk that the punk kid that showed up here a few years ago would become the voice of reason? You've come a long way! :yesnod:

What makes you think Jesse's the voice of reason? :D

Good choice. Some of these are difficult things to decide (I run a small forum). On one hand, continuous potty-mouth turns me off and I would likely disappear pretty quickly from such a forum. However this was presented as a joke and is not offensive except perhaps for youngsters or possibly somewhat-sensitive folks. (there wasn't actually a swear word in there, or did I miss it?)
Moderators usually discover it is a fine line between what some think is laisse-faire and others, a police state.

When these things occur, I think it OK for the mods to suspend (and make invisible) a thread in question until they have time to review, discuss, make a decision. Takes time. Most of us have day jobs to contend with so a couple of days to sort it out would not be unexpected.

It's like politics too; you can only hope to please x% of the crowd with each decision....there will always be someone who won't like your choice.
