Interesting story about a recent fatal in Florida. 70 year old pilot who had his ticket pulled 21 years ago and has been flying ever since. And he took his 39 year old wife with him on the fatal flight. Sad story but you just gotta say WOW!

Wow, 'cuz of the 39-year-old wife? :p My father knew someone who never got their ticket, but flew all the time. We thought nothing of it (forty + years ago).

I used to joke that my second wife was "being born right about now", however I've ditched the joke when I realized that eventually I might be dead by the time this imaginary second wife reaches legal age (hopefully not, I'm 45 now; and no, my wife ignores pretty much all of my stupid humor).
 
The octogenarian goes to the doctor for his annual physical and the doctor asks “how is he doing”? He replies he feels great and as a matter of fact he just married a 24 year old hottie. The doctor, a little surprised, says you better be careful if you have sex, it could be fatal. The old geezer nonchalantly replies,

“If she dies, she dies!”

Ouch. It isn't too long ago that someone told me that ''her sister' already picked up my ten year old.
And yes, I have gotten the ''your grandpa is here' yelled across a school gym.
 
I was shopping with my wife one time. She saw one of her students and said Hi to her. Her student thought it was cool to see her teacher out of the school, then she asked my wife.....while looking at me......"Is that your grandpa.???" o_O
 
Folks often presume I'm my wife's father, awkward at times, but we just laugh and carry on.
 
I have a friend whose father owned and flew a 310 for almost ten years without ever obtaining a SEL or MEL license.

He had taken about 45 hours of instruction years before the 310, and owned a 182 for a few years before getting some multi training and buying the 310.

He eventually sold the aircraft and stopped flying.

As for the geezer stories, a few years ago I went to my then 17 year old nephew's Eagle Scout ceremony, and the photographer thought I was my brother's father...great grandad of my nephew.

That was a balloon buster. :confused: :D
 
An Old man goes to his doctor for routine check up . After seeing him he sends him home with some instructions.
Couple of weeks later doctor was walking down the street and he saw the old man walking with a young beautiful lady holding hand in hand. Doctor gets a chuckle.
Few weeks later the man comes back for another visit. While talking to him, doctor mentions about him being with young woman. Old man says " doc I am doing exactly what you told me to do ."
Doctor is perplexed and he asked what he told him to do. The old man says " you told me to get a hot mamma and be cheerful "
Doctor gets a laugh and says that is not what I said . I told you that you gotta heart murmur and be careful.

I guess I pale by comparison to some folks. I’m 60 and my lovely lady is 42. Still that 18 year difference plus her youthful looks has earned us some father-daughter comments.

Aww, c'mon Dog; you paid that girl to be in that picture with you. ;)

Actually, I can see why the father-daughter comments. Ain't nothing wrong with having a hot looking wife.

Last Thanksgiving we went to my wife’s sisters house. A lady friend of her sister’s brought her 80-some year old father, who mentioned to his daughter that I was awfully old to be with such a younger woman! Bastard! My wife is only 3 years younger!

I met a guy last night. 20 year bomber pilot in the Air Force, then 20 year pilot with FedEx. Employee number 178 (or something like that...it was high 100s). 89 years old, still flying. Has a Legend Cub with the 120hp Jabiru.

Legally? I don't know the light sport rules but...who cares!! He's an inspiration. I was washing my plane, watched as he did a few circuits and he definitely still has game.

As I've relayed here before, when I was traveling for work and using my 182 to get there, I always enjoyed attending the meetings, cook-outs, etc. at the local airports. I couldn't believe how many were flying "illegally" in some manner especially across the South. No medical, never trained, dad taught them, etc. and they weren't shy about telling you! They couldn't care less who knew and many wore their non-conformance as a badge of honor. I'd estimate it was at least 25%. In Hazlehurst, GA, where I hangared for 8 months while I did four projects in the immediate area (Hazlehurst, McRae, Baxley, Fitzgerald), and where I really got to know the locals because they BBQed one evening each week at the airport, it was over 50%.

I don't hear much on the news about these guys falling out of the sky because they don't have a certain paper in their wallet. Don't get me wrong, I stay legal, but I do have a certain admiration for the renegades. As long as they do it solo. There is no excuse for taking someone with you.

Living the dream, yeah. Still, one has to ask if the proximate cause could be either a) desire to stay VFR when weather called for IFR, or b) not enough currency in engine-out in multi-engine airplane.
 
Oh yea well my wife is only 30.....























.... but I’m only 36
 
My wife and I are only 3.5 years apart in age, and even have been mistaken as father/daughter. Not sure if that is a compliment to her or a backhand to me...

We have to see the decrepit old face to be sure she is real and you have to be holding a dated POA sign up, preferably over your face...
 
Friend of mine has a stepmom who is several years younger than her. She was not amused.

Ha. I spent some time shopping for a Champ, talked to a number of Champ owners around the central US. Amazing the stories you hear... and how few people really care about anything the FAA has to say when they're flying an antique airplane off a farm strip.
