FFS. I need a new hobby.

Jim, at this point, I suspect that you have an incredibly improved opinion of your local mechanic.

FTFY. (I wrote up examples of things my house is currently waiting on third parties to get around to, but it got to be long and whiny.)
I was complaining to a friend the other day about my airplane being broken again, and i realized that that is probably the most first world problem, ever.

Maybe slightly behind "my superyacht got blown over in a storm" and "my private island got raided by the FBI".

Why is everything in aviation so hard?
Because youre a captive customer, practically speaking with no other place to go. Should anyone get an inkling that customers deserve better for their money, and decided to compete with the incumbents by delivering more or better service, the prospect of a thorough hazing by FAA/FSDO for their Repair Station Certificate will quickly dissuade them from doing so.

yup, I was gonna answer "captive audience" but decided to bite my lip and let someone else have a crack at it for a while.
:D

I just do not understand the aviation industry. You get better service purchasing a $15,000 new car... In aviation they give you a big bill, but do not want to stand behind it.

The two years spent becoming an A&P might be better spent on building an E-AB unless youre counting on going into business. Then you'll need insurance, business license(s), hangar space for dismantled aircraft waiting on unavailable parts, etc.
I came to the same conclusion

When was the last time you bought a car????? :D :D :D

When was the last time you bought a forty or fifty year old car and got the manufacturers warranty with it?

Better yet, when was the lat time you took a forty or fifty year old car to the dealer for service?

When was the last time the Federal Gov't prohibited you from repairing your own 40 or 50 year old car? When was the last time you needed a USG blessing for parts to bolt onto your 40 or 50 year old car?

When was the last time your 40 or 50 year old car fell out of the sky?
