VanDy,
It looks like a nice little airport there, and I love your pre-war Chief too.

So are you gonna be taking us locals up for rides? Pick me! Pick me! :)

BTW, I saw 3 of those flying in formation a few weeks ago, then watched them all land in sequence while holding short at F70. Pretty Cool.

Nice landing, how much have you gotten to fly this Chief? How long has it had the Lycoming? I fly a '41 65CA with the C-85 in it.

Came from the factory with a lycoming, this one just got installed and the video was from this test flight. I have exactly 45 minutes in Chiefs, all on this flight. It is a nice flying aircraft and I will be putting more hours on it as weather and schedule allows. The owner asked me to put 4-5 hours on it for him.

I bet the c-85 climbed a bit better than this one does. The O-145 has never had a reputation for being an excellent performing engine. Heres another view..

Yeah, the pre-war chief's make far better float plane's and especially with the aluminum prop and C-85.

Flew a Bay Tour with my CFI over the weekend - gorgeous day for flying, smooth as glass and oddly not too crowded either.

Thought y'all might enjoy this pic, snapped by Mary this evening as I was about to turn base for Rwy 14 at Aransas County Airport (Rockport, TX).

That's Copano Bay at sunset.

Flew my first front cockpit fam flight in a friend's Yak-52 today and wow, the thing is a beast. Best or 2nd best initial acceleration on takeoff that I have ever experienced, including the 1,100 SHP turboprop T-6A Texan II. Getting closer every day....

Sortie lasted an hour and included engine starts, taxi, takeoff, contact flying/maneuvering, practice approaches and a landing. The pneumatic brakes were not as big a deal as expected but definitely are different.
