Okay, so I'm cheating and this wasn't from today or even this week, but a little bit ago we had a visitor and I couldn't resist getting the Luscombe in for a photo op (even if the quality was bad):

I can resize any photo to any size I want, inches or pixels, your choice. What is the normal size for this group?

Thanks,

Jim

After all the rain of the last week, today was just a spectacular day to fly over our island!

Flying Left Traffic for 17R at Henderson for our 21st Anniversary weekend yesterday, VIP TFR in place, had to be on a flight plan with Mode C and squawking - so I filed IFR and had a relatively easy run in.

Packing up this afternoon, pull the rental out to the mighty Cutlass - the folks at Henderson were great (so was The Rat Pack is Back show at the Rio, highly recommended if you like Sammy, Frank Deano and Joey Bishop).

LA Center actually double checked on my type at this point (say again, type 172? - I said 172RG) - we did have a high teen tailwind but groundspeeds were really good.

Here's a pic, taken yesterday Northeast of Houston. The winds aloft were at 51 knots (!), and drove the clouds into these interesting-looking stripes.

Haven't you seen Disney's Planes movie? 'Tailwinds like you've never seen'

I don't know what is normal (some sizes here seem excessive IMHO,) but I factor in typical screen size statistics that have been gathered (e.g. some numbers here, among other places) and try to stay under 1280x1024 pixels. Other limit to consider is file size; as a matter of courtesy to lower bandwidth users, I'm hesitant to post or link to anything over a megabyte. Ideally a quarter megabyte or less unless the picture detail is important.

Here's a couple for any Uconn Husky fans out there, taken on a flight Sunday from 7B2 to KIJD.

Did you experience any mild wave effects?

Surprisingly, no. Just a wee bit of occasional chop.

Were it not for the display on my EFIS, I would never have guessed the winds to be 51 knots! Of course, I wasn't running with or against it.

A couple weeks late, but this was on a flight out of Napa, over Lake Berryessa, down the coast, and back across the bay. Too much fog to get real close to the city, but still a blast.

Joined my friend 'Flipper' and 3 other T-34's to fly a Missing Man memorial for Sigtronics founder and long time T-34/T-28 pilot Frank Sigona today at Cable (KCCB ). A real honor, Frank was quite a guy apparently.

Visited the FSI Wichita crash site today...

The simulator casualties, from left to right, are the Citation XLS+, Caravan G1000, Caravan G600, and Citation XLS. The Caravan G530/G430 also suffered severe water damage and it's still unknown if it can be salvaged.

Cool pic, Dave!

I have a question, though - It looks like you have two altimeters, and the second one is reading about 250 feet high even though they're both set to 2992... Is that normal/OK/legal? :dunno: I thought altimeters had to be within 75 feet.

The only altimeters that are needed to be close for rvsm are the pilots and copilot's (not visible, to the far right), yes they are fine.

Air to air in Virginia taken from a Super D... my uncle in his RV4. I took the pic with my cousin's SLR and did a little photoshop work.

Took my 3rd lesson on Saturday. :D My last lesson scared the crap out of me and had me thinking that I always wanted to stay right seat. This one went much, much better & has me craving my next.

F-5 Tiger. Very cool. I worked on flight sims for those in the mid-80's. It's still one of my favorite jets even though not nearly as capable as many that came after.

Dozens of those at Shepard AFB when I was there in the late 70s. IIRC the red star was for there if the aircraft was used as an enemy Russian aircraft in one of our training ecxercises like red flag. Trying to make it look like a Mig
