Can't be that bad in Illinois.

It is that bad. In Ireland they've got scenery that includes cliffs, waterfalls, mountains, rolling green hills...and whisky

In Illinois weve got a mound....and Malort. Seriously, were the second flattest state. And if you've never heard of Malort...just skim the comments

back at my happy place

One of my favorite places to fly. If you can zoom in on the second picture you will see the eagle just looking at me as I go by. The have never moved yet.

Harriers mixing it up in a coastal NC MOA near home. Seeing a lot of the new CH-53K helicopter - a family member did operational test flying for the Kilo. Awesome. Ospreys are around quite a bit, as well. Mythic aircraft - when they work.

Flew a few hundred feet over the Hollywood sign and 3500 ft over KLAX. I look look back and see my 13 year old on his iPad. I tell my wife in the right seat "babe that's the Hollywood sign". She says oh yeah.

um, you wanna take a picture? okay.

meanwhile I was feeling like a kid in a candy store.

100% Relate to this.

Found this derelict in my mechanic's shop today:

They also had a wing off of an archer for a wing walk replacement; that was pretty cool to see:

I may have tried to convince the owner of the first plane that they took his wing off....

There appears to be a tail stand/weight attached to the tail tie down. So I’m betting the chair is sitting on the right side of the engine not supporting it. Though from that angle it looks very precarious!!!!! LOL!! ArrowFlyer86

My airplane is very snobby so it just holds its nose in the air at @Jim K . No support needed from the chair.

Do I spy, with my eye, an office chair holding the engine up?

True story: they found so much stuff to fix on the engine they needed a chair to sit on while they worked on it....

In other news... @NealRomeoGolf Is your ignition harness original? I've not seen a cloth covered one...

Be careful. You might have some strategically planted trees in your fields soon.

A little afternoon flight. A nice break from flying approaches, partial panel and other instrument training fun.

Little pockets of showers over the area

Wow... the area around Coulter has sure filled up. I remember when the airport used to be in the middle of nowhere...

I also remember when Bryan Lake and the Dansby power plant were built.

Thanks for the memories, although you are making me feel old.!!:lol:
