What is the Whitestone Climb?

Eman posted it, but the unfortunate souls that operate frequently out of LGA can recite the climb by heart: off of Runway 13 make an immediate right turn to 180, fly to 2.5nm from the LGA VOR and make a left turn to 040. No faster than 210 until on the 040 heading. :)

Waited all day to go flying after work, it was gorgeous, sunny, reasonably warm, and light winds. Come quitting time it was overcast at 2500', gloomy, and chilly, but I had to stop at the airport anyway. Oh well, might as well go up for awhile... to find it was sunny only a few miles west, so I went and played in the sun. The "rays from heaven" picture doesn't do it justice, but the Connecticut fall colors don't seem to have suffered much from the storm earlier in the week:

Beautiful airplane you have there! Glad you got your flight in!
And thanks for sharing the awesomeness of flight this time of day and this time of year.
We know what you mean when you say pictures don't do it justice like seeing it in person. Very nice pictures.

We are so lucky to do this, sunset flights.

Within a couple minutes, the sun set and the moon came up.

A couple of shots from yesterday's ferry flight MSP MGC LOM.

The lake shore route past Chicago (I am thinking the airplane was level but the camera was not):

Nice pics, what model Mooney?

Good eye on the Mooney. 1977 M20J. Nicely equipped - 530 WAAS feeding KFC 200 AP/FD. Collins 251/351 back-up radios. Garmin ADS-B out/in x-ponder.

Nice, we just re-did ours, a 1982 J. Two GI275's, 430W (was in the plane), 2nd navcom a new GNC255, KFC200 legacy AP, 345 Xponder, and a new PMA 8000G audio panel.

Unfortunately, not mine (wish it were) a ferry for a friend.

Taken on my flight last night in an MD-11 at 33,000 feet near the Bering Strait during G3 level geomagnetic storm.

Tons of color and the most dancing movement I've ever seen. Hard to get great pictures from a moving airplane though.

Wow, really neat. I never saw any that good. Surrounded by the N.Lights, but nothing like that. Noctilucent clouds were sometimes great over the N. Atlantic. But still, that's spectacular.

Guy's battery was dead.. he jumped it with a battery charger, got out to unhook it.....

My plane took a small hit from some debris, but it's cosmetic.
His....older Cherokee 140, probably totaled. I'm on a corner hangar and the wing hit the building. Smashed his wing pretty good, chewed up the prop, and will need at minimum an IRAN on the engine.
He admitted he has no insurance.

When the prop comes through your hangar door....

Wow!!
That is the hangar door I have at my hangar...wow!

Holy ****
No insurance?
I have to provide a copy of my insurance to my airport with them named on it for just something like this! That guy should be kicked out. Sorry the hear it damaged your plane. WTF! you have your plane inside a nice hangar and this happens!

Wow

After many failed attempts, I finally got to take a friend of mine up for a sunset flight.
He is a super fan of aviation, has had cerebral palsy his entire life, and is one of the best people I've ever met. We've been friends for almost 40 years.

Didn't get the green flash, but still a great sunset.

Flew him over to Rough River and showed him the badass spread off the end of Runway 2.
Pics don't do it justice for sure.

A beautiful evening on the way to KOWB.

Back to home base.
He didn't want to land, but said it's time...he was so hungry he could eat a cow.
