Pre-takeoff checklist
Way back in 2003, I had a real mixed experience with Anywhere Map. It was uber cutting edge with features you couldn't find anywhere else (oops, no pun intended), but it was buggy as hell. It seemed that they never Beta tested new releases and, as I remember it, was extremely unstable. Memory makes the good better and the bad worse, so I'm sure it wasn't that bad, but I did swear off of anything other than commercially available hardware ever since.
I have a Garmin 396 and love that it always simply works ... but the value proposition sucks compared to software options that use commercial hardware. I've recently found Foreflight to be an excellent option, but only run it on my iPhone and haven't even seen it on the iPad. Just today, I got an e-mail from Anywhere map advertising their new DeX tablet solution.
So, question to those of you using Anywhere Map. How stable and reliable is the software? Are you generally satisfied? How would you compare it to other options you've seen / used? It seems to me that the iPad will be a category killer and that Foreflight and WingX are likely stealing a lot of traditional Anywhere Map customers ... am I off base with this thought process?
