Anybody do pet insurance?

Pet insurance? Absolutely! Mine are insured by Smith & Weston

My favorite line when vet bills come up: "There is a five cent solution . . ."

Of course, the kids did not buy it when we found out the rescue mutt needed both ACL's. But I did make them decide: "Disney trip or the dog?" I think the vet gave us a twofer discount when I told him that story. And yes, we still went to Orlando, just two years later.

Well, just those that don't view their pets as disposable.

+1 on that. Dogs cats or whatever become part of the family, they are not just play things that you throw away when you are bored or can't be bothered anymore.

Essentially, isn't that what insurance is anyhow? I'm "betting" I'll need the money and they will pay out big. The insurance carrier is "betting" they won't and get to keep all of my premium plus the investment interest.

No difference from car or home owners or life insurance, people carry those and don't think twice about it

I apologize to Henning, I misunderstood what staple gun he was talking about. For some reason, I thought he was talking about somehow using a hardware store staple gun, not a surgical staple gun. Had no idea you could get those in a 'feed store'. Never seen them around my feed stores, but have seen plenty of hardware items.
(however, still not convinced an owner using a surgical stapler is a great idea)

Bad idea at best for most. There probably are folks that can successfully do it without harming the animal or themselves, but probably too damn many, especially when they're stapling their dear sweet little buddy.

Heck, I can't even big my boy dog a shot. Mrs. Steingar can't hold him and I can't hold and inject at the same time.
