Domestic First is a LOT cheaper. And if someone flies a lot, many times it is a free upgrade.
International Business Class is a whole different world. But like any airline fare, there are so many variables. A number of years ago, my wife and parents met me for a week in Hong Kong. Roundtrip Business class from DC area was $3200 each. Mid week to mid week. The same flights for the same time frame, but weekend to weekend were over $12000 each.
With bonus miles, that one trip, in Business, earned Silver level for the year.
