2025 - Who's going?

I'll probably end up there for a few days, driving in my motorhome... but I'm not locked into it this year and might skip it depending on what else my family has going on.
I'd rather attend Airventure this year since it's been a while for me and there's more focus there on experimental...but that's a larger travel and "vacation time" commitment for me just based on geography.
My last few Sun n Fun visits have left me feeling that it's a show/trade-show/convention without a clear target. Mostly I suppose I've been just disappointed with how many vendors don't show up there.

I was thinking of airplane camping for a few days. How hard is it to leave mid-week if you fly in?

Seriously considering it. Need to review historical wx for the journey...

Afternoon thunderstorms and muddy grounds.
For the past 5 years that has been the exception and not the rule. Of course it’s Florida so anything is possible. Osh has had way worse wx over the same period.

I am a possible. Is Sunday the 6th a full day of stuff, or is it like OSH and thats when people are packing up?

Folks that fly in do start to leave like at Osh but IMO since its smaller it doesn't seem to me to be as noticeable, but the vendors will be there as will a large local crowd. This year the Blue Angles will be flying at SnF so that contributes to the large local crowds on Sat and Sun, at least to some degree.

The vendors are largely AWOL by noon IME, and don't really want to talk to you at all on Sunday. You can get a good deal sometimes on something big enough they'll appreciate not having to pack and ship back home.

April 1-4. First time going. Flying into TPA and renting a car.

It's Florida. The forecast is always afternoon thunderstorms.

I'll be there. Might camp one or two nights if there's a reason to, otherwise just a day or two.

I am going even though I really did not want to. Was kinda voluntold I am going. The last 6 months of my life have been wild.

Add me to the list, likely Thu-Sat if weather works out. Tried getting in after an airshow last year and ended up diverting, so this year’s plan is to find an airport with camping or hotel within an hour or two, and do a morning arrival.

Despite living 15 minutes away by car, I will probably not make it this year. I am in Colorado through the first week of April.

We will be there Tuesday-Friday. We have hotel rooms for the entire week. I have to go back to work on Saturday.

I will have 2 rooms available for someone to take (1 queen, 1 king) at the Hilton Garden Inn LAL starting at 5pm on April 4-April 7. The rooms will be cleaned and changed over.

It will have to remain in my name since I can’t change the reservation. I’ve already tried and even when through the Diamond Desk.
You’ll have to pay me directly since I have paid for the rooms. We can sort it out in person at the hotel so you know it’s not a scam.

PM me if you’re interested.

I am planning on flying in on Thursday. This will be the first time I am PIC going into SnF. I will be there for the day.

I am trying to plan the SnF trip down and back, but it's turning out to be a logistical nightmare for how many people we are trying to accomodate. Is anyone flying down from near south Atlanta with an extra seat that would not mind taking down my friend Camber and bringing her back?

I'll be there Tuesday through Friday. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!

Will also teach a couple of forum classes again this year:

I attended your mixture and lean of peak class a couple or few years back. Very informative and great for anyone curious about it or new to aviation. I'm glad to see you keeping it up! Thanks

I plan to be there Friday and Saturday. Probably coming in a King Air 350. Not sure where they’ll put us. Hopefully at paved area at E1. We’d camp in the grass there.

I'll drive over at least one day, probably Thursday but I'll see what the weather forecast looks like before deciding.

I'd love to go, but flying all the way to Florida from the Seattle area with violent spring storms between home and the show means my plane and I are staying here. I did attend a couple of times when I lived on the east coast. I actually like the venue more than Oshkosh, but if I go again, I'll be flying in a commercial cattle car. Flying commercially just washes away any appeal the trip might have associated with it. I'll enjoy the show vicariously through the magic of the internet. There is a chance I will fly to AirVenture, Oshkosh this summer after visiting my grandkids for a week. That will depend heavily on how active the summer thunderstorm system turns out to be.

This make me wonder if Copper State of some other Western event will ever be resurrected so there's a West Coastish counterpart to SnF. I'm guessing not, but it would be nice to have a Fall event to balance Osh and SnF.

the aopa buckeye airshow may be for you

Not really the same thing. I volunteered at an AOPA Flyin at my home airport and it’s a much, much smaller event. In any event since I live in Florida and go to SnF and Osh every year, my interest in a Western event wasn’t personal, but more philosophical.

I'm targeting Thursday or Friday for the day. Flying in.

Seems like a lot of planes already considering the bad weather further north. Looks to be a good show this year.

Be safe you guys.

We’ve been here since Friday and it was busy and was hot as balls today. Forecast is for highs around 90 all week — bring sunscreen!
