Should Radios Be Required At Non-Towered Airports?

I am fascinated by the implication that a radio call actually means that the airplane is near the position stated. Saw it yesterday, took off behind two 172s in a Citabria. Could see the second one, but not the first. When the first finally called crosswind, he was at least two miles away, and...

    Howdy Y'all :)

Probably not convenient, but the folks at Shelbyville are still flying.

    Howdy Y'all :)

Welcome Brian. It is possible to live life well without a Bonanza ;), although I am lusting after the two seat version these days (T-34). I'm between Murfreesboro and Lebanon so pretty close. Got up today and spent 0.5 socially distancing in my Citabria. Which airport do you fly out of?

How much will airplane prices drop in 2020?

This will be very dependent on the type of ownership. I had decided to sell one of my Wacos to buy a T-34A. I can't imagine the high-end T-34s coming down and the Wacos will as ride haulers give up. The difference will be much higher. High-end toys won't come down much - Warbirds, antiques...

    Additive Manufacturing

This post mostly answered my question, thanks. A web search found a conference in September at McCormick Center that I may attend, if the virus hasn't killed us all.

    Additive Manufacturing

Sorry, I wasn’t looking for how to build my skill set but what the right person to team up with to have some general conversation. I officially left my last company last June. Starting to think about starting a fourth one.

You have got to be kidding.

When you get on an “elderly” list, the Phishing emails flood your inbox. Last week I got an email from Amazon that my account was blocked. Click here and verify your password. Three times. Yesterday I got one that my email account would be terminated April 30 unless I opened the attachment and...

Looking for Advice on Career Change. 25 Yrs Old. Burned Out?

There are so many opportunities coming in new technologies that I find my self wondering about one more company. I've done three. The C-141 cured me of any desire to fly 121. Start a company, work for yourself.

    Finally a voice of reason

Just a thought on the total deaths not changing discussion. Considering the number of deaths in the Western world from automobile accidents, I might actually expect total deaths to go down during strict movement restrictions. COVID 19 may save lives.

    formation flying?

Since I brought it up: F.A.S.T. is at: http://flyfast.org The training (and other) materials are at: http://flyfast.org/content/reference-material A PDF of the F.A.S.T "Formation Pilots Knowledge Guide" is at http://flyfast.org/sites/all/docs/FAST_FKG_2.0.pdf

    formation flying?

First, to each his own. We all have different risk tolerances. My thoughts apply to me. I have been fortunate to fly formation in a lot of different aircraft, from a T-28 to a C-141, including T-38s, H-3s and H-1s along the way. So, yes, I am a former military pilot. That, by itself, is not...

F.A.S.T. Get the training materials. They’re pretty cheap. BTW inexperienced leads are a very bad idea.

    McGilder Twist (or Turn)?

Wikipedia lists Tail Spin as a movie. I couldn't find another reference. Doesn't mean it's not there. Whip stall is apparently a stall caused by raising the nose an exaggerated amount and letting the airplane slide backward after the stall. (I always thought it was a weird term for a snap...

    Maybe Chevy was right NA

I tried to like the AT in the C7 before I ordered mine. In traffic I have a real problem with the torque converter. I am looking forward to the automated manual in the C8. The AT is otherwise faster, more efficient, etc. but it doesn’t understand the concept of NOW.

    Maybe Chevy was right NA

I like my C7, Z51, MT. My dislike of ATs has always been more about the torque converter. The C8 automated manual will suit me just fine. But I’m in the “don’t buy version one of anything” camp.

    Control for automotive starter

I am working at finishing the piece of my future mover that lifts the tailwheel. Once I get that done I plan to use a (very) modified scooter to power it. Seems like the easiest place to get everything I need in one place.
