    Would you leave your Job

My upcoming locale for the next couple days, taken from the 118th floor: And fwiw, I've spent quite a bit of time doing 4 day trips where I got to overnight in FNT, GRR, LAN, and whatever the Zoo's identifier is... all on the same trip!

For the experts here... Which means everybody

Don't forget it's Certificated Flight Instructor, not Certified Flight Instructor. A lot of people miss that one.

    Would you leave your Job

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

    Would you leave your Job

Yep.... and like most people, I enjoy taking uber over the bus any day of the week.. :D It was touched on that the 121 job can get boring, but there is a lot more variety out there than most first picture. You can go fly the 737 and spend your trips flying down to the Caribbean domestic...

    Would you leave your Job

I agree. The OP started with this thread stating giving it all up to go to a major (Big Three like you said). Here's UAL's pilot pay scale. http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/airlines/legacy/united_airlines To get an idea of what one would make as an FO (or captain when upgraded), take those...

    Hawaii Helicopter Crash

Are those floats that activate in an emergency? Pretty cool.

    Tall Pilots

Go for the 777.. much bigger cockpit and you have 180' to stroll back to use one the of the 6 or 7 lavs. I vote for the Tampico/Tabago/Trinidad, though. Comfortable ride for this 6'4" frame.

    737 cockpits, then vs now

That it is. Even the 777, while extremely capable regarding things such as redundancy or RNP approaches, is still 20+ year old technology.

    737 cockpits, then vs now

They should do one of those for the overhead panel. It's the same POS that it was in 1967. Thanks SWA.

Pilot fighting cross winds or not?

Watching it without sound (which is how I originally viewed it), it doesn't seem sped up. Watch the guy's eyes shift from inside and out. Also the vehicles on the highway north of the runway. All seem pretty normal. The shoulder bounce is because the camera is affixed to the aircraft. If...

Pilot fighting cross winds or not?

He has a wide angle lens on the camera as a start. And second.. the reason the plane seems stable is because of his "abrupt" control inputs against the turbulence. I'm pretty sure that was mentioned before in this thread. Nevermind.. it's obviously faked... right down to the traffic moving...

Pilot fighting cross winds or not?

This guy was probably faking too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j36oTWZESg

Pilot fighting cross winds or not?

The guy in the original video is getting the sh*t kicked out of him... that's why he's bouncing around so much.. surely people understand that. His rapid movements are counteracting the turbulence the aircraft is experiencing. You've landing in NRT under high wind conditions? Honest question...

Pilot fighting cross winds or not?

I've seen that exact thing on that exact approach with winds gusting over 50kts in a 777. Here's even a video of a similar landing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISMQR5pCl98 You'll notice those flight controls moving all over the place. And another from a 747 (to avoid the FBW crowd)...

Pilot fighting cross winds or not?

It doesn't even look particularly sped up. Watch the guy's eye movements going back and forth from be outside to the instruments. Not all that rapid.

Pilot fighting cross winds or not?

Looks like a 747 landing on 16R in NRT. And it looks legit. I don't see anything showing it wouldn't be.

NA - The Internet of Things

Thread drift, but I always think of this short story by Ray Bradbury when the subject of interconnected smart homes arises. Forgive the formatting. In the living room the voice-clock sang, Tick-tock, seven o'clock, time to get up, time to get up, seven o'clock! as if it were afraid that...
