737 cockpits, then vs now

Be careful what you clean those newfangled large screen displays with, they are picky, and the ones on the 767 and 777 go for about a quarter million each.

Naaaaa.....Some Windex and a paper towel and yer good to go! :yikes:

Also, don't forget to do what swimmers do, and get some spit on the inside of the glass to make sure it doesn't fog up...

When pilots smoked, coffee on a paper towel work best to cut nicotine on the instrument glass and cockpit windows. I Don't think that would work now.

When I was at Goodrich, I think I tore apart and reassembled instrument panels and avionics bays on just about every one of them, from the old 200-combi to the -fancy new bizjet. The rats-nests behind some of those panels were painful to look at. But, they always looked and flew right by the time they left us.

They should do one of those for the overhead panel. It's the same POS that it was in 1967. Thanks SWA.

My dad loved SWA for that. It really is a noticeable contrast in the new Max series.

I was pretty freaking excited when I first fired up synthetic vision on my RV10's EFIS screens back in 2008-9 when it was still up on blocks. Then I took a peek in a 737 cockpit and realized that the tech on my personal toy was out ahead of the game... sweet moment!

That it is. Even the 777, while extremely capable regarding things such as redundancy or RNP approaches, is still 20+ year old technology.

My A&P school has a 737 - 200 for the students to play with. Definitely the panel on the left!

BTW, great site if you like the B737, especially from a technical perspective.
