How does BRS increase useful load?

The elephants really mess up the weight and balance.

Single women pilot looking for flight partner

I'm current on bass bone, and can cover the inner parts if needed. We should do a bone players' fly-in.

    Anniversary that started it all...

It's also the 10th anniversary of my 1st attempt to pass my private pilot checkride. I wanted to do it on the 100th anniversary of Kitty Hawk, but the weather was IFR that day. I had to settle for the day after the 100th anniversary of Kitty Hawk.

Question about electronic gadgets and airliners

I've used a GNS 5870 MFI GPS on several flights now. I tack it to the window with some double sided tape and it usually gets good reception. (I'll discreetly stash it in my pocket when the FAs come around for beverage service, though.)

weird hobby: photo & hiking to crash sites

There's a B-52 crash site in a swamp in NH, apparently the only Buff that went down with no fatalities. I went out there with a friend a few years ago. most of the big pieces had been removed, but there was still enough wreckage to identify it as a crash site.

This is why we shouldn't have truck demonstrations at airshows

Does it matter that this was a "monster truck" (crushing junk cars fairly close to the crowd) and not a jet truck?

    Diligence

Looks like a nice Cardinal. I've almost forgotten what mine looks like. Cessna now says late October for delivery of the firewall.

    Cardinal owners...

I did land hard, last year. Before then, I did get the plane repainted, and followed up with an avionics upgrade (GPS, audio panel) last summer. I was coming home from the avioinics shop after a follow-up visit to have the side tone adjusted when botched the landing in a crosswind. I bounced...

    Cardinal owners...

I've got a 74 FG Cardinal, but I don't remember what the performance numbers are. I don't think I even remember what the airplane looks like - it's been in the shop since January, waiting on a firewall that Cessna apparently has no interest in delivering. :mad2: (Update: Cessna now says that...

    Bifocal Sunglasses?

The manufacturer is revamping their production facility and says that they will be back in stock later this year: http://optx2020.com/hydrotac.aspx

    Bifocal Sunglasses?

I use these stick-on lenses (http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/product/10025) - much cheaper than bifocals

    Unusual businesses (photos required)

Some day I'm going to start a combined sausage shop and photo studio, to be called... The Link 'n Portrait (you may have to be a music aficionado to get that one) Or maybe a combined ice cream parlor and auto lube shop, with a Knights of the Round Table motif... Sir Arthur's Cone and Oil...

First Hucks Start in 70 Years

IIRC, the IJN planes had starters, but some of the early army planes (I'm thinking Nate, Oscar) had hucks bosses on the props.

On eBay: MX300 navcom, ADF, and others

The MX300 is 14 volt, and it worked with my Nav-o-Matic 300.
