L39 or similar swap for an MX2 hop

I've got an itch I'd like to scratch without going to Arizona. By chance does someone with an L39 or similar toy want to trade hops? I've got an MX2- some pics I shot for WhirlWind http://lolachampcar.com/MX/WhirlWind/whirlwind_propeller.htm I'm in WPB, FL so anywhere in the SE would do...

    Any motorglider pilots out there?

Got my Stemme S10 up and flying. WOW. Now I understand why the plane exists. This thing loves to go up. It is my first experience with a 50:1 glider and now I see why glider pilots are so in love with the sport. I'm going to try some mountain flying in Colorado this summer which will add...

For you Potential Rotor Wing Students

The helicopter CFIs on my field make life easy for me. They are constantly letting me cut in and land along with generally just being on the ball and having a good handle on what is going on around the airport. I try to return the favor by offering a ride in my front seat anytime they have a...

    Google Will Build ADS-B Out

This subject kills me. If the FAA really wanted to see GA adopt ADSB, they would work with Congress to generate a productive approach that included- A single unit specification that, if the manufacturer meets the spec., liability is limited to the price of the box. The spec would include...

Plane Power Crank Case Driven Alt Shear Link

My machine shop did one up for me which will hold me over until I can get a few spares from Plane Power.

    Monoplane Corruption

an ole time aerobatic guy (which I am not) said something about taking off the "training wing"....... I knew he was not talking about me cuz mine only has one wing :) Agreed on making the most of your hardware. I'm most certainly not up to my ride's capabilities.

Plane Power Crank Case Driven Alt Shear Link

Wish I could.... No room in the front cowls for a belt driven alt. I was doing a prop balance and was shutting the engine down from speed along with multiple hot starts. The link is a polypropylene type material and may have weakened with temp.

    Monoplane Corruption

Whiff, Snag a hop in an MX2/MXS if you get a chance. It's a truly jacked up Giles without some of the issues (although it is still pitchy as can be).

Plane Power Crank Case Driven Alt Shear Link

By chance does anyone have a spare Plane Power case driven (Lyco) alternator shear link? Now that the company has been bought, the customer support is in the toilet. Thanks, Bill

Interesting article on recent Germanwings crash

I've had dozens of pilots in the front of my plane. 3/4s do not know how to fly. Experience has ranged from low hour PP looking to see what a spin is like to fighter jocks. Flying is like the rest of life in that you will likely get a bell curve of competence. The key is to weed out the...

    "Please call the tower..."

Agreed. I think it was the "hopped up type A muscle man just looking for a tree to **** on" factor. Oh, I did do an outreach by posting an offer to take any controller out for a hop. That manager's ex-wife (also an ATC manager) took me up on the offer. She is a very nice lady and seemed to...

    "Please call the tower..."

R&W, Holes on purpose as the info was not relevant to the discussion.... But since you seem to be detail oriented- Three TCAS RAs issued as I was changing altitude rapidly from 2K to 6K (aerobatics) One of two legal aerobatic areas is to the NW by about 14 miles of adjacent Class C Lots...

The often promised cheaper ADSB is happening

FreeFlight is making nice moves to drive down ADSB costs. Looks like they are offering their UAT based solution with GPS for under $2K http://www.freeflightsystems.com/news/press-releases/287-freeflight-systems-announces-equip-it-2020...

    "Please call the tower..."

Starts with a guy/gal yelling at you followed by asking for your name. They have your tail number so all they need to do to complete the picture for the FSDO report is the name of the pilot. If you do not call, they do not know who was flying the plane (not suggesting that you do not call...

ADS-B Changes for LSA and Experimental!

Just to be clear, the FAA's transmission check just checks that you are transmitting messages with all the right content. The service does not- (1) verify that system latency meets specification (2) the system is transmitting accurate data (no check of transmitted position against observed...
