    Removing Rubber from a Runway

I bought a power washer and my friend directed me to a subreddit where people oddly and surprisingly bask in the glory of their power washing conquests. And, while there, I stumbled across this aviation related GIF...

    radio frequency setting question

Thanks. That makes sense, but I do fly somewhere dense. I just went south down the coast for a few airports, starting with John Wayne, and compiled this short list of frequencies: That seems like enough of a sample. I wouldn't call them splinter frequencies. Around here, I think it makes...

It's irreplaceable, but you're willing to yank it and out like a butter churn? ;)

    radio frequency setting question

The manual says "it will change in increments of 50 kHz when the knob is pushed in and 25 kHz when the knob is pulled out.” The display is in megahertz, or MHz. 50 kHz is the same as .050 MHz. If the radio is limited to increments of .050 MHz, there’s no way to dial in XXX.225 or XXX.475...

Harrison Ford lands on a taxiway @ SNA

Other way around. That Live ATC recording doesn't make sense. The runways are currently 2-20, i.e. 2L, 2R or 20L, 20R. They haven't been 1-19 for many months now.

SoCal Folks: KFUL to KSMO... any tips?

True. 1900 sounds fun. I guess I just like more altitude.

SoCal Folks: KFUL to KSMO... any tips?

Oops. If you do the northerly route, unless you're on FF, note the 3000 floor of Burbank's 30/48 Charlie segment.

SoCal Folks: KFUL to KSMO... any tips?

Still a new pilot, but it seems you have these two options: You could fly the upper one at 3000 MSL, staying out of the bravo segments that have 2500 floors and below the bravo segments that have 4000 floors, and optionally not talk to anybody but KFUL and eventually KSMO. Of course, you could...

You can for sure buy a carrier agnostic iPad at an Apple Store. FYI, the iPad Pro 2 is rumored to be released next month. http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/ipad/ipad-pro-2-release-date-rumours-uk-2017-wine-3492180/

    Information about Amelia Earhart's location.

If you can’t get anybody interested enough to spend several hundred thousand dollars for a high-level exploration based on a globular photo of coral heads, but you believe it’s solid, why don’t you and a buddy go to the Republic of Kiribati and take a look on a tourist-like budget? Then, if you...

What? Where is all the extra nitrogen coming from?

    Information about Amelia Earhart's location.

I do? Weird, Tom, I though that that was you. Who first identified this location in Google Earth and opined that it might be the plane? Was that you? How was it located?

    Information about Amelia Earhart's location.

Thanks. Here's a link to a so-called KMZ file you can left- or right-click on, save locally, and then open in Google Earth to go directly to that spot. Link to my custom Google Earth Place (with overlay): www.teamandras.com/temp/2017/Amelia_Earhart.kmz The KMZ will zoom you to the alleged...

What exactly does one enter in Google Earth to see this location? Also, is it the latest image, or from a prior date?

How do you bring flaps up in a go around procedure?

Hi midcap. I'm confused by the 15 in the reference to 15-20 degrees of flaps, but I'm pretty inexperienced. What model Cessna 172 do you train in? I variably rent a 172P, a 172P/180, a 172R and a 172S, and the discrete flap positions available to me are 10-20-30-40 for the 172P 10-20-30 for...

How do you bring flaps up in a go around procedure?

The OP's question related to go-arounds, but I have a dumb question since the conversation has wandered into touch-and-gos. The Cessna 172 POHs consistently include a procedure for a "balked landing" (aka a go-around before touching down), but unless I'm missing it, they don't seem to have a...

    Runway etiquette

I notice in AIM 4-3-10(g), the 3-minute interval isn't required if the small plane's intersection is within 500 feet or less of the large aircraft's departure point. Is it true then that a small plane can always depart full length without delay?

    Check Engine light

Not sure I follow. The OEM cat was only "removable" with a cutting wheel, and then this after-market cat (one part) was welded in.

    Check Engine light

I'm sure prices have gone up a bit since then, but in 2012, I had a local shop replace the catalytic converter in our 1998 wrangler: $145 for parts (a CA compliant Magnaflow) $109 for labor $ 11 tax ==== $265 And this was in California.
