    Understanding Engineers

I just spoke to my daughter tonight, minutes after she finished writing the PE exam. She was exhausted and uncertain if she passed, but it went better than she feared it would. She was going to dinner with friends to celebrate . . . at Red Robin for "clucks and fries". I am pretty certain she...

    KFLY Flying Clubs...

Nick, What kind of plane are you looking to fly? I suspect the opportunity is in starting a club and you need to find people with similar interests to begin with. There are more than 400 airplanes based at Meadow Lake, many of which are not flown frequently. As mentioned earlier in this thread...

49 Ship RV Formation Sets World Record

Damn, Ron, you really know how to top everything, don't you. What the heck do 49 people donating their time and money to support a good cause have that can compare to what you did on the government's dime. I am impressed as can I be. Scott

    First Plane

Luscombe 8E. Replaced the skin. Rebuilt the engine, accessories and instruments. Replaced control cables and pulleys, tires, interior, windows, lights, electrical system, hardware, radio, hoses, baffling, you know, stuff. Added strobes, intercom, wheel pants, transponder and encoder. Can't...

    Is the Byers VOR missing?

The Byers VOR (BVR) has disappeared from the Garmin Pilot charts and is no longer valid as a waypoint in Garmin Pilot. DUATS still accepts it. A DUATS briefing shows no applicable Navigation NOTAM for BVR. So, what is going on with BVR? Scott

Towing trailer from CO to OSH...any good stops

Scottsbluff update: The Candle Light Motel has changed hands and hasn't received such great reviews under the new owners. That nearby steak house is Whiskey Creek. There also is a Whiskey Creek in Kearney, NE. Scottsbluff/Gering has a new place called the Steel Grill which has received good...

    No longer an owner...

The Cessna 140 does not meet the LSA requirements due to it's gross weight so it wouldn't meet the OP's needs. I do know of a nice Aeronca Champ that is LSA compliant and is for sale. PM me if interested. Scott

    Post Flight Cleaning products

Undiluted water and a microfibre towel (available in the aviation department of WalMart). Works best if used as soon after the flight as reasonably possible. Delayed use requires slightly more time and more undiluted water.

    Hoffa TFR?

That's it! They have to fix some corrosion on one of the NSA interface cables that hasn't been upgraded to fibre-optics yet. Good bye Sac Arrow, you should have held your silence.

Somebody please shut Chuck Yeager up.

I have been searching the web and I can't find any information about Chuck Yeager's tax evasion. Do you have a link?

    Fathers Day Ideas

As the father of two very successful young adults, my advice is that I think you can simply give your father a nicely hand-written note that says: "Dad, you are reason I got into aviation. Thanks for the motivation and advice through my first 20 hours." You can expand on that to more...

    Update 4 19

Hang in there, you're in a tough fight. I believe our local WalMart has Sucralfate (generic for Carafate) for about $70 for 90 1gm tablets. It might be worth checking with your professionals to see if that would save some of that cash. Scott

Sinclair with the membrane keyboard, a 16k memory expansion brick hanging off the back, an audio cassette recorder for storage and a composite RF video adapter connected to a B&W television. You hand typed program listings from computer magazines and, if they worked, stored them on a cassette...

    Electric car range and generator

What I don't understand is why the great coaches are doing commentary on TV broadcasts, telling us how the game should be managed and the plays executed. I don't understand why the clever engineers are "out here" instead of in the design studios. I don't understand why the great lawyers are "out...

    First airplane

My favorite is plain water and a WalMart microfiber cloth. It is even easier if you do it after each flight. And, congratulations on your new purchase. Scott
