Is the Plane you had your first lesson in still flying???

Yes. N10993, the first new C150 that my father bought for training in KS. I see it's still in the same family that bought it in the mid 70s.

    Starting search for new plane.

Jetprop sales are hot right now. All of the PA46 models are moving. I've turned down four PA46 prebuys this week. If you find a Jetprop give me a call. I probably know the airplane or may have done a prebuy in the past.

    Overhaul, phase I

I heard ther was there but didn't get to see it. I don't think I need an airplane like that. It would just kill me. I'm laying low for a good fixer upper Malibu now. I don't think I can ever get another one for the price of my old Malibu and it wasn't a fixer.

Things not to say to the boss

I was hired here to work on King airs and Citations. You'll need to pay me more to work on recip aircraft. You may be here to make money for the company but I'm only here to have fun. You and your wife bought an airplane, you can afford to pay us more. I've heard it all. No wonder I got...

    Overhaul, phase I

I was over at Gann Aviation the other day working on a Malibu. I had to check out your O470 while I was there. They say you need another crank. Sounds like good timing on taking the engine down. Gann did the engine on this Malibu I was checking out last year and it still looks good. They...

    Crappy service - vent

This happens all to often in general aviation. I get a lot of calls from owners trying to rescue their plane from an out of control shop. If it helps much, I've seen a whole lot worse. All you can do is hope that they make it all good.

    What would you buy/fly?

I've owned two. The Malibu and a 172. Both are sold now because I wasn't using them since I sold the FBO. I will probably buy a good fixer upper Malibu sometime. I've always had my heart set on a -10 converted 690C commander.

I like my Central dial indicating calipers. Easy to use and still going strong after 36 years.

I have to go to Witchita, KS. . .

Another thing you might want to see is the Kansas Aviation museum in the old terminal building at the Airforce base. They are restoring the old staggering that was rotting away in a Hutchinson barn. They also have a restored OX-5 engine that my Grandfather found up in Canada. And the Vornado fan...

I was a little worried when my connection to ICT was boarding at the international terminal at Atlanta.

I have to go to Witchita, KS. . .

Sorry to hear that you have to go to Kansas. It's easy to get to Hutchinson to see the space museum and the underground salt mine museum too.

    Is it time to quit?

Hang in there. There are those good days that make me happy that I do what I do. I've lost so many friends and customers over my many years of aircraft maintenance.

How many dirrerent planes have you worked on?

I'm starting into my 37th year as an A&P mechanic. I have worked with about everything in the GA fleet over the years and a lot of the corporate fleet too. It's been mostly the PA46 ships for the past 25 years. Man, I'm getting old!

    Bore scopes

This is what I use. I need it most for the PT6 engine hot section and compressor blade inspection. This also works great for inspecting cylinders and turbo charger blades.

I had a local place in KS make vinyl decals for the airplanes and company vehicles. They haven't aged a bit.
