    That sounds awesome!!!

Impact Of Gear Up On Value

Couldn't agree more! I've seen repairs that far surpass the quality and finish of the factory. The reason these guys ended up with these problems is because they bought the airplane with a "fresh annual." Twenty minutes into a pre-buy inspection by any A&P in the country would have shown the...

Impact Of Gear Up On Value

There's a Mooney around that was geared up some time ago. The retractable step is probably still sitting off the side of the runway where it was gear upped. The door is a ***** to close and doesn't sit flush. The cowlings don't have that Mooney slick finish and fit. The lower right engine mount...

    Any skymaster fans here??

Have a small amount of time in a Pressurized Mix-master. Loved it. Flies as straight as an arrow when both are turning. Just handles like a heavier 182. Always a treat when I get to fly it.

Friend lucky to be alive to tell his story

It may seem harsh, but let's consider the lives on the ground that OP's "friend" put at risk not only by taking off over ground equipment and personnel on the runway, but doing so with a reportedly rough running engine. Just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I dunno.

Friend lucky to be alive to tell his story

Hm, well, your friend is an idiot. How's that for a 1000th post.

    Busted Checkride write up

Gitmo, firstly, thanks for posting this. Sorry you had to deal with that overwhelmingly negative and unprofessional DPE. I have no doubts that you'll git 'er done and this will all be nothing more than an unpleasant memory sooner rather than later. Really curious about the DPE though, wondering...

    RedBird Flight Simulator the "J"

I typically deal with Redbird support once every few months, software updates and what-not. I've found their support to be prompt and helpful, however we operate a Redbird FMX. To me, it sounds like the bottom line is poor quality of the unit you have. Maybe yours specially, maybe the series...

Fantastic writeup...if I had hit the lottery tomorrow, I'd be doing the very same thing.

    Buying a "sitting" plane

Nothing against the O300, I think it's a beautiful engine. Smoother and sounds loads nicer than the 4 pot. I'm just a fan of the upgrade in performance it yields you. The conversion I'm familiar with even places it in the original (modified) cowling. Flown lots of 172s, a few with the 180 horse...

    My prop repair

Please please please adhere to manufacturer recommendation...really easy to booger this stuff up (not only making a mess, but catastrophic failure). But yes, it will likely be some manner of simple epoxy repair.

    Aviation History X-13

Amazing! Appeared to be incredibly stable. Even more amazing when you consider the fact that was accomplished only 54 years after the Wright brothers flew at Kittyhawk.

    Katana for 20k

Correct. IFR equipped, not certified. So you can actually do an instrument rating in one, all simulated instrument. The explanation given to me was lack of lighting strike protection from the factory.

    Oil Brand / Type

We run in the fleet (5 Lyc 360/320s, 1 Cont IO240) Aeroshell 80w in the winter, 100w in the summer. Both with the "plus" for Lycomings additive AD. Phillips seems like a decent oil too. Personally, I think being consistent and frequent with your oil changes has more of an influence on the...

    DA20 Experiences

I noticed this too, that and it'll run away from you on the ground because of that high idle. Renters are not kind to brakes, either. We have a 2013 with the MT composite prop, the explanation I was giving for the high idle is to counter the extreme low inertia of that little prop, to keep it...

    Alternating one wheel landings

Good stuff. I think the Sky Arrow is a neat airplane. If you ever make your way up to PA, I'll trade you lunch and some low lead for a ride!
