How does someone like this pass an IPC or a BFR?

I’m an infant IR student. First time out of a bravo I gave up even trying to copy it down. My 2I helped out for sure. On return from a D it was much simpler and I managed. There’s definitely a learning curve. For those struggling it might be more efficient for the controller to go one step at a...

Which one of you shot off a large rocket today (5/19/22) near Houston?

What is the point of this post? What government are you referring to? The OP was asking about a rocket launch with pictures. Are you having a mental break from reality? Perhaps you need to loosen the tin foil wrapped about your brain case.

    Expanding a Flying Club

I’m in a club. We have a constant 15 members per plane. Five planes. It works for us. All planes are simple to keep insurance down. We have around 40 on the waiting list which is out a year or more. Scheduling is a non-factor and there are plenty of slots open for those wanting to fly. Several...

    Too Hot for Comfort?

I cannot comment on the coastal route having no experience there, but living in Salt Lake I’ve flown to Vegas following I-15. That’s easy peasy if the weather is decent. I also have flown PnP missions (once with my wife from Vegas to Salt Lake). The doggie slept the entire time … probably...

This pigeon has been doing spin training

Funny. I watched a Mourning Dove perform a perfect downwind short base and final to a power line in hefty winds. Wish I had that on video.

    Simulators

I have xplane and msfs along with the honeycomb alpha/bravo stuff. The iPad is easily configured to replicate the flight in ForeFlight (not sure how other apps handle that) and Air Manager (paid software) allows you to configure a panel as you like ... to an extent. For IFR simulation it can get...

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

However, there is a direct correlation between speed differential and road safety. So having Tantalum out doing 140 in his hot rod and granny doing 55 in the old Caddy does cause problems.

How long it took you to fly with your loved ones?

Took my wife up the day after. I don’t know how people do that the same day as the checkride. I was mentally wiped and just wanted to chill with a cold one after.

Premier 1 driver reported to FAA by "pilot"

Flying out of a Bravo controllers expect your call after landing to be clear of RW( ) at taxiway( ). Meaning past the line. And my cfi in primary hammered it home to ensure clear of the active before worrying about talking to ATC. At a field without ATC? Communication is necessary. Was he...

OK, which one of you did this?!?

Not to be crude, but she’s no longer alive. Kinda wrong to blame her on the cap. In any case that self-promotion thing lives on in this day and age. At least she never bailed out of a perfectly good airplane to score dollars … unlike some of our new age people.

    Teardrop Pattern Entry

It’s something I’m not interested in doing. I loop around and join the 45 to downwind in busy airspace.

    Cessna 195 down on I-95

As I was describing to a non-aviation acquaintance .. cars are built to be disposable these days. How many 30-40 year old cars are in active use? Few, for sure. As mentioned, planes are given extensive looks on a regular basis to ensure they can continue flying safely.

Single experimental crash lands on a flat roof

77-year-old pilot injured. Katherine’s report shows a landing incident two years ago resulting in a prop strike for the same tail number. Edit: a link helps  https://www.ksl.com/article/50328641/pilot-injured-after-single-engine-plane-crashes-on-roof-of-building

This upset me more than maybe it should have

Yeah that would have upset me also. I’m not real close with my dad but he’s flown commercial around the world (mostly bush and cargo). Listening to him share stories of the pilots he knew that bought the farm is … frightening in a sense.

Sit in your Mooney / Comanche / Grumman / Musketeer?

If you make it out to Utah and want a ride in a 5B let me know. But if you are 3 adults I’m not sure that would be ideal for a mission, depending on luggage and whether or not you want tabs or full tanks. Fun and practical for my mission. Just two adults and limited luggage.

    Foreflight TPA

As mentioned above. PA is 1000 above airport elevation for simple GA operations. Verify airport elevation before you fly and plan accordingly.

    My 2021 Flying Map

Based out of KSLC. Flew to KIDA twice last year. Randomly found an awesome Thai place the first time so decided to go again. The second time the waitress recognized us and sat down for like 30 minutes to chat.
