Probably not. They still going to let him do that?
It'd never be allowed in the US, ...
Forget it, he's rolling.I still haven't recovered from that time he bombed Pearl Harbor.
Somewhere I read that the Secret Service doesn't allow presidents or ex-presidents to drive themselves, due to the potential legal mess in the event of a crash.why not?
It's not like the secret service is going to tackle him.... or (queue the scene from West Wing where Simon Donovan has, ahem, disabled CJ's car to prevent her from driving off without her protection detail)
SS doesn’t allow current or former presidents and vice presidents to drive on public roads. This isn’t by statute but rather agency demands so I suppose a particularly hard headed individual could say no but none have.Somewhere I read that the Secret Service doesn't allow presidents or ex-presidents to drive themselves, due to the potential legal mess in the event of a crash.
Hmmm….German Chancellor…SS…interesting.SS doesn’t allow current or former presidents and vice presidents to drive on public roads. This isn’t by statute but rather agency demands so I suppose a particularly hard headed individual could say no but none have.

A few presidents have tried that argument only to discover the counterpoint "we're bigger and have guns.". Most famously GWB on 911 when he tried to order AF1 back to DC.who does the Secret Service work for?
And German airspace is vastly more complicated than what most of us fly. There are only a couple of areas in the US that are even close.Friedrich Merz owns a Diamond twin and uses it to commute to work every week.

I would suspect that the person to his right takes care of all those kinds of details, and he just shows up and flies. And German airspace is vastly more complicated than what most of us fly. There are only a couple of areas in the US that are even close.
Could be. She looks like his wife though, and google doesn't show any obvious aviation background in her history.I would suspect that the person to his right takes care of all those kinds of details, and he just shows up and flies.
Initially the Dept of Treasury IIRC. They mostly fight counterfeit money but somehow the POTUS got into it. Now the idiotically named Dept of Homeland Security runs it.who does the Secret Service work for?
What is that thing between their two heads? I can't figure it out.Friedrich Merz owns a Diamond twin and uses it to commute to work every week.

My guess was a boom attached to the headset that keeps the oxygen cannula in place. What is that thing between their two heads? I can't figure it out.
Not long ago a Swiss university professor was the victim of a press assault after they determined he was using an LSA-scale aircraft to commute to work. He was termed an environmental criminal and various similar terms. In that part of the world its not going to be security that restricts any politician, its going to be public image, class, environment and not rocking the socially accepted boat. The Germans are very, very uptight about these things in a way that is (happily) incomprehensible to most Americans.
German airspace is actually pretty simple in comparison with most of Europe. Its the trouble on the ground that's the issue. Hats off if you know what a flugleiter is.
