building a garage cabinet. Gouged my finger with a screwdriver bit. Then snagged it on a drill bit. I think someone’s telling me I’m too stupid to do construction projects today.

For the record, that finger already has had 13 stitches in it…3 from a slip on the farm as a teenager, and 10 because I had a little accident while cutting the cheese.

hold the coldest beer you can find in that hand.

for the swelling, of course. it's medicinal.
Hmm, my hands must be swollen then. Can’t be the college playoff games on TV…

Actually, was this finger injury due in part to having too many margaritas last night as you rang in the New Year? Wouldn't be the first hangover-induced injury I've seen...

I'll be sure not to pull your finger.
The ER nurse want sure whether she should laugh or not, but by the time she got around to asking if my pocket knife that I was cutting the cheese with was clean and I said, “I wiped it off on my pants before I used it,” she just rolled her eyes a little.

Previous job giving safety orientation to students in the metal fabrication lab - hold up the left hand and point out that the surgeon did a really good job and you can hardly see the scars, but that's what happens when you are in a hurry and decide you will just "be careful" instead taking the time to find the appropriate safety device (push stick).
