Mayo

Mayo is fine on a dressed up burger. Y'know with lettuce, tomato and onion.

With that said, I just had a reheated burger from last nights grilling. It already had pepperjack cheese on it - all I added was a few healthy splashes of hot sauce.on the roll.

Ketchup on a burger, yes, but only if fresh tomato isn't available. Mayo on a burger, only with lettuce and tomato.

Mayo on a burger? only if you are into that "secret sauce" garbage.

I prefer my dogs and burgers plain,'cept for 1 or 2 slices of American cheese on my burger. All of that other junk just distracts from the taste of the beef.

American cheese has as much in common with cheese as ketchup does to tomatoes and both belong in the garbage...

Haha...but those baked potatoes are definitely not plain! Way to go!

Mayo is okay on a burger if the burger has bbq sauce. And bacon. And cheddar. And is topped with a fried onion ring with a dollop of coleslaw in the middle. Toasted bun of course. And a cold Fat Tire would be nice, too.

What was the topic again?

Well, it's in the "site feedback & support" section so I guess the OP is looking for help...

If anybody here uses fat free mayo, we can't be friends.

I pretty much feel that way about all meat now days.... just a bit of salt is all it needs. All the other crap just gets in the way

When I eat out now, I've become like my wife in a way. Always used to drive me nuts in a way that she'd always make it so complicated to order anything.... substitutions, this and not that, does it have onions in it, and on and on. I'd always say just order it as the chef intended... I'll have a number 6 please.
But now I'm generally asking for it to be plain. no pepper, no nothing....and it still generally comes out with pepper or some other seasonings
And I find that it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and often makes me feel crappy after eating it.

As for mayo on a burger, I used to like it when the burger is overcooked. It adds a bit of moisture and creamyness....
Except now that I'm staying away from vegetable oil (see earlier comment about horrible after tastes, and feeling generally crappy after eating it) I'll only use the avacodo oil based stuff sparingly

And for the low-fat stuff....I couldn't agree more, That's just silly.

I love mayo, but that stuff you buy in jars is a toxic brew of something.

I have taken to making my own mayonaise. It's easy once you find the right recipe for your tool. The food processor, the Blendtek blender and the immersion stick all need slightly different recipes. My last batch in the Blendtek came out as thick as soft butter. The only problem was that it tasted so good I used it on everything so it didn't last long. And even though it is healthy(ish) (I used avocado oil) it still has a lot of calories.

now that I'm eating an animal-based diet, I wonder if good mayo can be made with animal fat. I'm not so inclined to make my own mayo since I'd use so little of it, but while Avacodo oil seems ok (and I'm thankful that it's commercially available, I'm becoming more and more convinced that everything is better with animal fat.
I wish that things would be fried in animal fat like we used to do.... even pork rinds....a lot of them are fried in vegetable oil!

Mayo is a great hospital but is only okay as a condiment. And for those of you who slather it on bread before grilling, that’s just weird; use butter like the rest of mankind.

Mayo on French fries the way to go

The meat patty is just another condiment. I like my burgers loaded, like so:

Mustard, relish, mayo, cheese, fried onions and mushrooms, jalapenos, tomato. I often use raw onion, a whole 1/4" slice of it.

As far as Mayo? Horseradish mayo is a mouth-waterer. And breath-stopper. Its hard to find good hot horseradish, so Kraft's horseradish mayo is the way to go.

I like foods that hurt.

A little off topic, but a great grilled hot dog variation I hit on is to line the bun with fresh cilantro, add the dog, and top with siracha sauce. For a little added heat throw on some pickled Serrano pepper slices. They’re very easy to make

Sounds like the gentrification of hotdogs. :) Chili + mustard is fine for me.

Chicago style hot dog is the superior hot dog

I don’t put mayo on anything hot anymore. Only gotten sick from it once, but once was enough.

Fortunately I was out of the airplane before it kicked in.

Potato salad--
Mayo?
Vinegar?
Yogurt?

I generally don't like ketchup, but it seems to work on Whoppers and McDonald's burgers. Otherwise, I'm a mayo freak when it comes to hamburgers, baloney sandwiches, and most other cold cut sandwiches. But not on salami or prosciutto so much.

Pro tip - mayo can make dry, leftover turkey more tolerable.

Yup. Mayo on both slices of the bread, along with some cranberry sauce (more moisture), then the turkey. Salt and pepper. Sandwich done.

The condiment holy wars crack me up. For the record, I've eaten hot dogs with ketchup on them. I make grilled cheese sandwiches with whatever cheese is handy -- including American slices, on occasion -- and mayo. Or butter and Havarti, or whatever I'm in the mood for. I sometimes put mayo, ketchup, or both on a burger. I used to eat steaks with A-1 or 57 on them (we were poor; then later I learned to buy better steaks and cook them better). I use BBQ sauce that comes in a bottle that we buy at the store. And I'm pretty sure none of these things will consign my soul to hell when I die...

I only eat my fries with either mayo or malt vinegar...

If you want salad oil and egg on a hamburger, just put salad oil and egg on it.

So I guess Miracle Whip is out of the question…
