Maybe you have a cracked-up Bose X sitting around but the mic was working before it was taken out of service. This is the one with all-black headset cups, mic screws onto one cup.

The mic, cable and box are all one unit. You may want to specify which battery box and plug configuration you're looking for.

I have both the A20 and X. This may not be the cheapest way, but Bose will do a complete refresh for $175. The X now is like a new one.

Do you still have insurance? When I got mine, insurance lasted 5 years. My mic broke and they sent me a new one no questions asked.

I'm sorry, I thought I did, mine is a Bose X; there is no other identification on the unit.
And it's only the detachable boom mic I need.
Here, it's this one.

The boom mic is not detachable from the unit. It is detachable with the cable and controller box. See here, there are six choices:

You probably need the Battery-powered, straight-cord, dual plug cable with electret microphone included.

Nah, these are older than dirt. I asked a while back what they could do in the way of refurbing them and they politely declined. I don't blame them either.

here is a pic of the boom and mic, 2 screws out & 'separated' from the cup.

Bose says $200 for the mic, $40 for the pair of gel seals. Not sure I want to put that into a well used 15yo headset. Thanks for the ideas everyone.
