...so there I was, finally on the ground after fighting off the family of rabid 'coons, but my saw was still in the tree, so I...

ha, the saw is hanging from his belt! he teaches monkeys how to climb

I TOLD him to cut the OTHER side of the limb he was standing on....but nooooo wouldn't listen to me.

The only pilot I know who is not afraid of heights!

Dave, I think the world of you but I'm sorry to have to say that in this you are dead wrong. I'm totally scared to death of heights. I have to be and I highly recommend it.

MM on DRs account...

Sometimes we aren't who we seem to be. That last post was not me. It was from this guy:

Yep, sure is.

Would you believe we've been talking about gliders today? ;)

And then Matt said innocently..."have we been talking about gliders much?"

Ah, then you have my maximal admiration for courage and bravery, Matt!

"kind of" are the key words.

Reminds me of all those awesome electronic products we buy at Radio Shack. "Realistic" brand... Not quite real.

Is that Missouri's version of the Sword of Damascus?!

Damaclese, wasn't it?

Diana,

As an engineer I worked with building a dam for the Corps of Engineers in the mid 1970s remarked one day as we watched heavy equipment building the earthfill portion of the dam, "Work facinates me. I can watch it for hours!"

I just want to publicly state that Diana and Tom are about the nicest, most sincere, down to earth, likable, generous, interesting, relaxed, and warm, aviation people you could ever hope to meet. I'd wager that Tom is probably one of the best instructors in the country just based on his patient friendly demeanor, and I could tell before we even started the engine that Diana is a careful, disciplined, and safe pilot. One roll and I could instantly see she knew how to handle her plane too.

And no Diana, I haven't had anything to drink tonight as I'm at work!

Without a doubt on all points, Matt.

 Awwww, aren't you sweet! I don't know what to say. Thank you for the kind words.

Tom really is a good instructor.

:D That cream sherry IS pretty good stuff. ;)

Without a doubt on all points, Matt.
You're sweet, too. :) You back in Missouri yet?

Matt is currently in Northwest Arkansas saving my Mom and Dad's bacon. The ice storm hit them pretty hard and Matt has been working at their house (and at my sister's house) to help clear out the broken limbs. The dude can climb!!

Here are a few photos - before and after. I believe my parents have the distinction of having what Matt describes as, "The most ****ed up tree I've ever seen.", or something like that.

Thanks so much Matt. You're one of the good guys!!!!

Yeah Matt is a damn Spider Monkey :)

I took these in Marfa. I walked into the hangar, and I hear Matt talk, but I cannot see him anywhere, as I expect him to be at ground level. Didn't expect him to be hanging off the darn hangar doors. The best part was watching him toss and catch tools while hanging off the rafters :yikes:

How come I didn't get the nickname Danger? Hell, all you guys have nicknames; Longus, Brevus, Danger, Cherokee KID, The Count...

I guess I'm really asking for it....

Smart aleck is probably what I'll get

Could be worse I guess...

Spider Matt should post a map of the USA with the states in which he has cut trees. He trimmed mine in Marfa, Texas!

Our good soaring season has begun. Wave over the Davis Mountains and strong thermals today in west Texas with temps in low 80's.

Texas Glider Rally fast approaching on April 4 - 11, 2009.
