I owned and flew a "Cardboard Connie". Its my avatar....the 1950 Bellanca Cruisemaster. It only has one engine and doesn't need a lot of rudder....neat plane though. Does it count?

Jeez Jay, when you start a thread with something like that, you're not gonna get too many replies.

Coolest plane I've ever flown? Wow. That's a hard call. Stearman, or a J-3 on skis, or a Super Cub on floats, or... Nothing like a Connie though.

Well, nothing like a Connie but the coolest I've ever flown was the Cirrus i flew on a demo flight this week. I'm going to do a longer post soon.

The coolest plane I've ever flown? 1967 PA 140.

It had an air conditioner....

Dehavilland Tiger Moth. Afterwards, I had an unnatural desire for a MG TD, a warm pint, and to postpone my next dental visit for a couple of decades.

Heck, yeah! Those are cool!

That has a wood wing, like the Super Viking, right?

That WORKED? No way! :D

Seriously, though, I've never been in a Cherokee with a working A/C unit. They've all been labeled "inop".

A Super Cub on floats sounds great. Skiis? Brrrr... I don't think I would fit in a Cub with a down parka and pants!

MD-11, new plane on factory test flight with factory test pilot. 2 hrs in the sim and about 2 hrs in flight.

Flew "in" a 1929 Travel Air biplane today...... does that count. mmmm round sound.

Turbine Otter on tundra tires. About .05 hours on the controls ;)

One takeoff, short flight and landing in a Lake Buccaneer with a CFI. Interesting plane. I had been intrigued with them for a long time but this experience of actually flying one was enough to let me know I wouldn't want one. Instead I should go for broke and go with a Widgeon instead ;) (talk about broke...)

Um, isn't that, like, 3 minutes?

Does that mean you landed the Otter in a lake, or you flew in a Lake Amphibian? I keep thinking that the Lake looks like a great idea for down here on the island.

 Why is that? I did my C-MES & MEL ride in one as well as a couple hours here and there since and I don't recall landings on either land or water being anything unusual. The only thing on that end I'm not sure of is how safe it is in the event of a hitting deadman. It's a slow plane, but it's on my list.

Maybe more like seven ;) For some reason the pilot didn't want me taking off in it or landing the thing ;) ;)

 I clarified my post above. I just didn't like sitting down close to the water and I didn't like the cabin for a tall guy like me. I'd rather have something on floats instead.

NICE!!!!

It does indeed

I believe you are thinking of a Twin Otter, Alaskaflyer is talking about the single engine variant.

LOL, no, I meant to write C-SES & SEL. Did my MEL in a BE-95 and MES in a BE-18.

100% my favorite that I have flown

My very first airplane flight ever was on a Connie, from Ft. Ord in California to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, that was summer of 1960. It was not part of the military, but was a leased or contracted civilian plane. It had some very hot looking stews (flight attendants) which helped to keep me thinking about WTF I'd gotten myself into during the ride.

After bout 20,000 hours in a Connie it ceases to be cool. BTDT

The coolest aircraft I ever got to push throttles in was a Martin B-26 stripped for rag dragging for the fleet in VC-3 at North Island, with 200' of rag target being towed behind it would still climb at 5000' per minute , and to get to buzz ships with it, how cool was that.

Okay...you win! I don't think anyone can top that -- especially if they was a-shootin' at ya!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I got a little stick time in a Beech Super 18. That was cool.

They were to try to hit the sock not us.

none did.

I almost cried when they knocked that fun stuff off and sent the A/C to the bone yard.

Sniff ::sad:

Curtis Robin, ferry flight from VGT to a residence airport west of PHX.
I'd need to go check my log book to find that airport. Fuel stop in Kingman AZ on the way.

I guess you could say that....though actually the super viking has a wood wing like the Cruisemaster. It (the viking) evolved from the last version of the cruisemaster which had a 260hp continental and a nosewheel (big mistake I think). They got rid of the triple fin and went to a huge single fin.

Neat plane.

A beech super 18 is not a Bellanca product.
