Apparently (according to the Swedish Aviators show) it is traditional to sing a song as you rotate on your first solo.

What song would you sing?

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun! (Give 'er the gun now!)
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one heckuva roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame.
Hey! Nothing'll stop the Army Air Corps!

I soloed in 1983 so I was probably singing "Got Me Under Pressure" by ZZ Top

It's the flight that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friend,
Some people soloed, not knowing what it was
Now they will keep flying forever because...

(psssst to SixPappaCharlie... time to get Mini- and Micro6PC to start singing their version to Mrs.6PC if that hasn't been done lately)

Theme from top gun.great when your shooting a landing.

I thought every self respecting wanna-be Maverick sang "Danger Zone" at the top of his lungs whenever flying solo.

"I can do that" was running through my head at the time.

I was not aware I was supposed to sing anything when I first soloed. I do seem to recall singing 'Blue Skies' when I soloed the Waco at the end of my insurance checkout.

WhiteSnake's "Here i go again"

I recall an old black and white where Shirley Temple snuck onto a plane with a guy and they were flying into a storm. They were scared so they started singing. Don't remember the song or the name of the movie.

The movie was Bright Eyes and the song On The Good Ship Lollipop.

A song, huh? No idea. As I recall, I was kind of preoccupied with flying... and praying.

Good choice.

I'm frequently humming Corner Pocket (count basie) while flying by myself.

You saw it on TV, huh? That kind of makes me think of this:

I'm not soloing or even flying today.....but I'm singing "Cold as ICE"
It's -6 outside

SAIL of course..... I want to believe I'm a bada$$ fighter pilot!!!!

I don't know about singing, but my takeoff roll sounds something like this:

Oil pressure green... airspeed alive... right foot to hold the center line... 60 MPH... Boogity Boogity Boogity, let's go flying!

Might have been on here or another forum. Some pilot uploaded his solo video and the music as soon as he rotated starts playing in the video. Celine Dion's All by Myself.

I was rolling and jealous I didn't think of it.

When I take off the theme song to the movie "Shaft" is going through my mind...

When I'm climbing through broken clouds I can't help singing Ghost Riders In The Sky we with an emphasis on that last line:

An old cowboy went ridin out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw
Plowin through the ragid skies and up a cloudy draw
