Are you getting winter where you are?
Look how cold it is tonight here.
Looks like all my winterizing efforts are going to be a fail.

LOL. It's about 8F here and headed for -7F overnight. Winter arrived with a vengeance.

Is Canada blowing cold air to us, or are we um; drawing it this way??

We had our first sticking-around snow this week but it hasn't been much below freezing yet. That should change this weekend, forecast highs for Saturday in the low 20s.

Last night NBC national news was talking about the polar vortex, so I don't doubt it's pretty cold in a lot of places already (including most if not all of Canada), and soon to be all over the northern half of the US.

Down to the mid 20s tonight and tomorrow night in Alabama.

-1°F when I got up at 5am MT, -2° presently ... at this rate, I don't think I wanna go outside

...oh wait, I don't have to go anywhere - today is day 2 of my 3 week layoff period where I do all the turnover of everything I've done in the last 6 years to the FNG in India ... yeah, maybe later.

Also our anniversary ... 31 years of my lovely bride putting up with my stupid self! :)

Congrats on 31 years!

Could be worse.......you could be living in a tent in North Dakota.

Acro what makes you think I'm not living in a tent? Used to the garage but now wife has me out in the backyard, and yes, in a tent!

Ooh that looks to frickin' cold for me! That those crazy Injuns protesters up thar?

Lived in Duluth as a kid, cold ass place and too much snow.

On Monday morning when we got up, the furnace was on. By noon, we turned on the AC. When we went to bed the AC was still on, but I had to get up around 3am to turn on the furnace. Then Tuesday around noon, we were back to the AC.

-280 degrees...... man, better leave your water dripping in the sink.... :D

Be sure to let us know how -280 feels, if able. I sure won't ever be trying it out.

It's been around -23C at night here in Edmonton plus wind chill, makes for -30C or so temps. Definitely not comfortable to be out in for more than about 5 minutes with just jeans/winter coat.

Today is one of the chilliest we've had in E Tennessee and tomorrow isn't looking any better.

It is freezing here in TX today (we are below 50F).
"Arctic blast" pushing through: 01027G33KT 06/M01 PK WND 02039/1817.

And it is supposed to freeze for real tonight. Predicted 30F. Life stops in TX when temperatures drop into single C digits. :)
So since it is so freaking hot here in the summer and so freezing cold in the winter, can anybody explain to me why so many dumb Californians relocate here?? :D

Too many liberals out there? ;)

dammitdammitdammitdammit ..... got suckered in by the summer that would not end here in Colorado, and I left the hoses hooked up to the outside faucets. 2 froze up sillcocks to defrost. 1 split for certain, 1 unknown at present.

I'd offer to bring my propane heater, tarp, and plumbing gear over Greg but it is too damn cold.

I had the joy in the early eighties of being in Midland when an ice storm hit. Watching Texans trying to drive on it was hilarious.

always could be worse ... and a lot of times, it is! :) Fortunately, 1 bib is basement access but the other required pulling a vanity mirror (yay - didn't break it - yet) and cutting drywall.

Uhh crap. I think I left one connected and didn't put the winter cover over it. I better double check that tonight. If I find a frozen waterfall and hear the well pump running I'll know I screwed that pooch. LOL. Karen is home today so I'll just hope for no phone calls... and the one I think I forgot is outside of a very warm interior wall with wimpy insulation... crossing fingers...

Just don't do like my neighbors did a few years ago and set your house on fire with the DIY. It was a real bummer 'cause I had to park a whole half-block from my house because the fire department guy didn't want me to run over his hose. The fire department did do a real fine job of putting the fire out and saving the structure.
