Water Ditch near JFK

Drop in the Roooo-jahs, the fishing for emergencies, and the "grill" comment, and the evidence for terminal stupidity is overwhelming.

Hey now, I'm thinking of making that my new checkin - 'SoCal Approach, Duchess 03E in yer grill at niner thousand....rojaaaaaaah'

Try that out! I believe SoCal Approach will be really happy to arrange the local sheriff to meet you at your destination. Those folks are kind of lucking the sense of humor IMO. :wink2:

Okay, as someone who has legally taken off from a beach, after his spouse had legally landed on the beach, I have to say that the fact that he landed on a beach is not evidence of stupidity or delusion. If you check the tide tables, roll your wheels along the sand, etc., it can be a safe operation. However, where we did it (in New Zealand), it was a clearly legal maneuver. In NY State, it apparently isn't, and trying to trump up circumstances that would allow you to do it is ridiculous, and that's what it appears he was trying to do!

If you really want to land on a beach, we've got a state airport here in Washington that is on a beach. Just make sure you come in and out around low tide so you have firm sand for the runway.

any paperwork or statements required following an incident where nobody got hurt would be more welcomed than those required following said incident where somebody was hurt or killed. any emergency, minor or major, would snap any idiot out of dumb radio antics i would think. this does seem rather fishy...and i dont mean his landing gear.
