And yet, we never hear of anyone dying because of it...

And yes, I wash my hands. Every time. I'm frequently disappointed by cold water, the lack of paper towels and really bad hand dryers.
The family and I were at John Wayne Airport (KSNA) and the restrooms had scalding hot water. You wouldn't have been disappointed there...

The more I see them, the less I like automatic faucets. (this isn't to you on the cold water, this is a separate rant) Turning on/off the water isn't that hard, yet I can't believe the grief people complain about on 'ewww, I don't want to touch the faucets!'...

I am not going to bother reading the article as this is the internet and you can say and misinterpret whatever you want, but I seriously doubted that infectious disease is the third leading cause of death in the US. I found these numbers from the same CDC site with about 2 minutes of research. For the record I wash my hands 100% of time in public and 90% plus at home, 100% when it is a #2.

  • Heart disease: 611,105
  • Cancer: 584,881
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 149,205
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 130,557
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 128,978
  • Alzheimer's disease: 84,767
  • Diabetes: 75,578
  • Influenza and Pneumonia: 56,979
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 47,112
  • Intentional self-harm (suicide): 41,149

I didn't actually try to change my display name to "douche bag." I just wanted to see if someone else would do it.
It was more the use of the term 'douche bag' to insult someone. When I'm frustrated at someone, I call them a 'playground cleaner', and when they ask what that means, I usually smile and say, 'it's the same thing as a douche bag, isn't it?'

that usually breaks the tension, but if delivered wrong, or to the wrong person, it escalates quickly.

Funny, it didn't occur to me until this post that that was the reason for automatic faucets. I thought the reason was to stop people from turning on the faucets and walking away.

I peed and washed my hands a few minutes ago.

Just making sure to send continuous updates because apparently it's in some way related and interesting to pilots on web forums, and I wouldn't want to let down my fellow pilots!

Another update soon.

Okay separate rant. Why don't people put more thought in to the design of urinals and toilets?

1. Urinals. Poorly designed ones have the splashback effect. The critical target for no splashback is small and typically the drain itself. Properly designed ones have angled surfaces such that the contact point within the basin is non critical.

2. If you wanted to design an efficient megaphone, it would look just like a toilet bowl. Seriously, what would have been a barely audible poof in open space is heard throughout the entire restroom when on the toilet. What would have been a loud but containable fart in a closed office becomes a deafening thunderclap that the whole home or office can hear when sitting on the toilet. Can't audio properties be considered in toilet bowl design?

Ruh roh, frequent urination is a sign of prostate issues, better go get that checked.

Never had that problem, but then, I learned about pressure drop with increased hose length in Physics.

Lol, reminds me of the joke about two guys peeing into the lake, one says to the other, "my this water is cold", and the other says " and deep too".
