Want to buy an Aircraft Kit but Wells Fargo screwed up

The small single location bank my parents used and started my first savings account at got bought by a slightly larger local bank, which over the last 30 years has grown into a reasonably sized regional bank covering 2/3 of Illinois and 1/4 of Indiana. Seems to be a really good size as they're big enough to offer the services of bigger banks like an excellent website and atm's everywhere, but small enough to still have my local branch where I know all the employees by name (went to school with a couple of them) and they know me.

To wrap up this episode, the second attempt went thru quickly and the wait for delivery has begun.

BTW, dealing with Citi Bank to cancel a credit card was no picnic either:D

I’ll stick with my local CU (member for over 50 years) for everything except routine stuff associated with CC’s and checking at my winter location.

Cheers

you're certainly not going to hear me defending wells fargo, but I think the same can be said for just about ANY large company's support system..........they all S U C K arse. try getting through to at&t support when you have a billing issue...I could go on and on but they all use the same support model......make it SO INFURIATINGLY difficult for a customer to get an answer that they just go away.

You might not need a physical bank in the winter. Or much at all.

Many use an online bank year-round, keeping a token account at one physical bank only for signature guarantees.

Glad you got your wire straightened out.

Without any question ATT IS THE ABSOLUTE BOTTOM DWELLER in customer support. Thank the Almighty I very rarely have to attempt to deal with those toads. I just go to the local ATT store and let them fix the few issues I’ve had.

Cheers

My only experience with Wells Fargo convinced me to make it my only experience with Wells Fargo.

Agree completely. We had a bad experience with Citibank too. The service at the credit union is way above any of the mega banks. There are never robo responses to requests for help, always human friendly response whether email or phone. The website is straightforward, there are no ads, there is no pressure to buy more “product”, and the one dollar fee hasn't changed in the four decades I've been with them. That's why we're staying with them even though we now live out of state.

Try finding someone at the IRS who can do anything more than provide information you already gave them. And that’s after hours in the phone queue.

The best bank I ever did business with was a privately owned bank in a single wide trailer.

I once walked in looking for a loan to buy a 3 year old truck. I talked to the owner/president, he checked my account, called my employer to verify employment and income, and in under 30 minutes I had cashiers check for that purchase.

That owner sold his bank to....

wait for it....

Wells Fargo.
