This is west Texas. Nobody out there flying, especially that low.

Bingo. I ran into that when I flew from North Carolina to Utah one day in the Aztec, flying over Spike and Dave en route. I was the only one at lower altitude ft the whole way across the state, no icing PIREPs except the ones from me. The good part was I knew they were accurate and relevant!
