Transporting dry ice what's the problem?

Each on its own is somewhat ok but all from the same poster def has a Pete Flemming Super Troll feel to it ESPECIALLY with the newly mentioned "fine wine" comment...

I think you have a well calibrated troll-o-meter.

I didn't follow any of those other threads. Putting it all together, the troll is pretty strong.

My wife and I pack dry ice in the bottom of our cooler then put a brown paper bag over it. We then pile normal ice and beverages on top. Everything stays cold for up to 3 days at OSH. Oh.... Did I mention we always take it the back seat of our Bonanza? Haters... Bring it on. It works, it's safe and I can have a cold beer at OSH that doesn't cost $5-6 a glass!
We've been doing this for years and have camped out with both the cooler and dry ice and the BO.

You can't use wood or charcoal in the the aircraft camping areas, just in Camp Scholler. Near the aircraft it's white gas or propane only (or 100LL if you have a multi-fuel stove like cgrab )

Thank you sir! Point taken, duly noted and filed away for future reference :goofy: Grounds restrictions didn't even occur to me with that thought.

I think you both are somewhat paranoid with overactive imaginations.

Putting it all together you have before you a student pilot who isn't afraid to ask for advice (and who takes that advice) and is also planning on going to Oshkosh.

Wow that is VERY suspicious!

Could never happen!

Thank you for letting us know. And you've never noticed any corrosion issues?

Josh,
I'll be coming into Hartford about 3 on Saturday and waiting until the Cessnas2Oshkosh clear the air before I takeoff. I will also review the notam, check the winds and weather and put my VAC sign in the window.
I plan to go to RANDO to line up for RIPON, it's out of the way but then everything is in front of me as I approach RIPON.

Or your plane can run on unleaded, I plan to fill up with mogas at Hartford before making the run into OSH

Capital City 02C also has a mogas pump I believe.

You don't have to worry about the C2O or other mass arrivals in the air. They don't fly the Ripon procedure but are brought in straight in to 36L and 36R. If you go to Ripon you'll just get routed to 27. Of course, you may end up in some ground congestion up in the north 40.

I guess if I land on 27 I'll just ask for progressive taxi instructions to get to VAC.

No, you keep your mouth shut and hold up the VAC sign. The guys directing you aren't on the ATC frequencies even if they have radios.

Back in the day ATC was smart enough to route vintage (and homebuilts when they camped down there) to 36 and spam cans to 27, but these days you're just as likely to get the wrong runway.

Hocky, no corrosion issues at all. We use a good quality cooler that is fairly air tight.

Put the VAC sign in the windshield where the flaggers can see it and they will just point the way to the VAC parking/camping. They all do a great job leading you to a parking spot. No need to talk to anyone.
