Logged another 1.8 of flight time today. It was another awesome lesson, worked on soft field takeoffs and landing (simulated). We were supposed to just stay at south valley but there was some sort of EAA event today with a TON of "discovery flights", so we went over to Tooele. The first couple of approaches were a bit sloppy but once I got used to the extra power I cleaned it up. I had some trouble holding the plane in ground effect on takeoff. I would push the nose down, but get nervous being at that attitude so close to the ground and let it come back up. I know it's just a mental thing and with more practice I will get over it.

My cruise flying is getting good, my Instructor just gives me an altitude and pulls his phone out to check emails or prep for the next lesson of the day. I did have a small screw up coming inbound to south valley though. I entered the frequency for the salt lake valley but failed to switch radios (I think I pushed the button but maybe not hard enough) and was talking to noone. It took me a couple minutes of not hearing anyone else before I realized my mistake.

You must be at about the same point I am, although my soft fields had to be pushed back a bit due to weather (just did my first ones yesterday). They are definitely more challenging than I thought they would be!

I'm at 19 hours.

Sounds like you're making good progress. Keep up the good work!
