To get out of the house, we are headed up to Wichita tomorrow for the weekend with our 13-year old daughter (who likes history). From OKC it's a 3 hour drive but we've never been there. We have no real plans, so looking for suggestions.

There is a science museum we will probably go to.
Any interesting historic sites?
National/State Parks or "nature walks" (although it's going to be pretty warm this weekend).
Aviation museums?

I understand COVID may affect hours and availability, so I will definitely be checking on that.

Thanks!

I was going to suggest the salt mine tour and the cosmo museum (which has an SR-71) both in Hutchinson. But the previous poster beat me to it.

Another vote for the Cosmosphere and Salt Museum.

And BBQ. Definitely BBQ.

Can one still tour the Citation factory these days?

Visit the Keeper of the Plains and walk around the riverfront area. If you're looking for a hike go to the Great Plains Nature Center.

I also believe Doc will be home this weekend https://www.b29doc.com/

Great! We're already planning to go to the Exploration Place science museum, and it appears the Keeper uses the same parking lot.

Meh. :D I kid! - but actually it was just down here last week and we got to see it. It was pretty cool, even my daughter thought so.

Thanks all for the suggestions, we have a plan now!
