... and I'm a doctor!

I have the same problem. I'm a rocket scientist and a brain surgeon. Everyone laughs at me and I'm getting sick of it!!

"Even though my skills are not a career, I still consider myself as adept or possibly more knowledgeable than the average pilot," he explained on Reddit.

Typical Reddit.

This should be labeled more like an avocation. Sure you can fly a simulator all you want but that doesn't automatically give you the title of "pilot"; you gotta have the qualifications/license if you want the title.

mxmaniac? (or whatever was the fool's handle)

no wait, the guy refered to in the original post was married.

nevermind.

Now he wants to take up real flight lessons. Someone tell him he’ll have to pass a medical. The article stated he’s overweight, which could indicate some health concerns. Also, mentally he doesn’t seem too stable, maybe delusional? That could be grounds for failing a 3rd class, I assume.

He can take all the lessons he wants without a medical.

Mentally unstable...... delusional???? Sounds like he would fit right in on POA!!!!

As opposed to the frequent demonstrations of humility on POA? ;)

Another arm chair pilot.

I also happen to be a railroad tycoon:

This would fit in really well with Altoona as the town pretty much existed due to limestone mining and a special railroad feature called "horseshoe curve" which was a section of track which allowed trains to get up the steep grade to cross the Allegheny mountain range. This opened up the route from Pittsburgh to Philly. They have a decent railroad museum there as well.

And he still wouldn't be a pilot.
Are student pilots pilots? Also remember that not all certs require medicals.
Though if he knowingly has a condition that would prevent him from flying safely, he would be in violation of whatever FAR governs sport pilot requirements.

Not if he only flies dual.
That's what I was thinking. Maybe it's just semantics. But given availability of an LSA and a student pilot card, a student with no medical can plan and execute solo flights.

I'm sure he meant to go with "I identify as a pilot". Then it would have been ok.

The world is just not ready for the replacement of "identify as" with "am". Probably the patriarchy's fault. (Or is it time to move to another default?)

Reddit's full of 14 year old "pilots" posting fake stories.
Saw a guy trying to argue Constitutional law in one thread. Same guy was arguing about which was the best Pokémon character in another thread.

Pokemon has been around long enough that guy could be 40 and Pokemon was still part of his childhood. There are cosplayers in their 70s.

Metapod was the best character. Fight me.

:rollercoaster:

If lawyers or pilots are now arguing on the internet about cartoons, then we truly are done for.

That reminds me. I need to watch Idocracy again.

So what ARE pilots or lawyers allowed to argue about?

I can guarantee that you have hobbies/interests that other people think are stupid.

Stop NOT liking things that I like, or else I'm telling mom!
