You might have to just face up to it, the people have spoken. They're not thrilled about your precision German beer. How dare people make beer when they don't have centuries of experience and the finest equipment that science and engineering can provide!!
IMO, micro breweries are the best thing to happen to beer in this country since, well... ever. The thing is, they mostly are successful at making ales. Clearly you don't like ale. I happen to love ales I can remember a time about 15-20 years ago when it was damn hard to find a good ale anywhere in the country, but you could get European pilsners and lagers all you want. So the tables have turned. It's the ale lovers turn.
I'm not against ale per se, but against the trend of craft brewers not putting as much time, effort and resources into their beer as they could or as Europeans do. I'd be all for the craft ales if they would only put more love and care into the beer. But alas as you said, “the people have spoken” and the people are rarely swayed by hype and flashy advertisements into drinking beer of lesser quality.. right?
Maybe if big three had treated it's customers better in the past 20 years , then this snap back might not have happened or at least not to this magnitude. But why did imports have to be collateral damage? I say everyone should be able to buy and drink whatever they like. I'd be completely happy to share space in the tap lineup with just one or two high quality imported lagers like Pilsner Urquell, Staropramen or the Budvar mentioned above. Or maybe a nice weisse like Schneider or Weihenstephan. Heck even a proper pint of Guinness would be most welcome at this point.
