I hope it’s plant based!
Totally, the pigs ate roots, leaves, fruit, insects, worms, and mushrooms.

(Okay, the last three aren't plants. But, the insects and worms ate vegetable matter.)

I may have one of the symptoms of a neurological disease. I'm sous viding, if that's a verb, bacon.

I'm halfheartedly looking for a second radio identical to my comm1. Found an 'affordable' (spelled: c-h-e-a-p) one on eBay with the following description (post translation): "For collection only, this device is obsolete and famous in the aeronautical world for its questionable reliability!"

I always wanted to be famous in the aeronautical world.

Dumb question - a MALS is a MALSR without the 'R'? (R=runway alignment indicator lights) So I should expect everything else to be there?

(specifically looking at KGVT RNAV17)

Organic - probably free range salt. Not cage raised salt.
I exclusively use organic, cage-free, nondairy, vegan, paleo, keto friendly, free range, fair trade, naturally iodized, hormone-free, grass-fed, nonalcoholic, store-brand, domestic, reduced sugar, Himalayan sea salt.

Control board went out on our stupid boiler, 6 months after I spent $7k putting a new heat exchanger in it. Board is NLA. Said boiler is responsible for domestic hot water and heating parts of the house, although main living areas are primarily heated by geothermal. Ice cold shower last night.

Thankfully they make an update kit to put in a newer board. $80 overnight shipping seemed worth the spend.

DFW-SDF on a 757 by midnight. Guessing DNV on a Shorts Skyvan next, then a brown truck to my door this afternoon.

How much are fine electronics these days if I could be nosy enough to ask? I remember replacing an otherwise perfectly good kitchen stove because the replacement control board cost as much as a new stove.

$553

The HVAC company that put it in originally quoted me $15k to replace it vs $7k for the heat exchanger. The guy they sent didn't read the instructions and while he struggled, i did and then talked him through it. He still managed to cause other issues that i wound up fixing too. I swore they were never coming back and I'd fix it myself from now on.

Turns out I could've bought a whole new one outright for $4K

It won’t have sequenced flashers, that would be MALSF. Is that what you’re wondering about, the strobes?

Yeah - well, just confirming since I've never heard of just plain MALS - def MALSR and MALSF.

Anyway the point was moot since instead of OVC004 and 1sm BR this morning it was OVC010 and 7sm and the lights were inop (not notam'd).

are you building a fence to keep the bees in?
My new (expensive) shop toy. Draw a railing in cad and this projects the contour to scale on the bench.

I have a fence and the illegal border hopper bees get by it like it’s not even there.

Got stung twice yesterday. 7:30 at night and 35 degrees. Was putting candy boards on. One hive was absolutely overflowing with undocumented bees.

Dang it.!!

My next to the last incandescent light bulb burned out this morning. One more left. After that it is those cheepo bulbs that claim to last 13 years but in reality last 13 weeks, and also cost 10 times more than the good incandescent bulbs used to cost.

I've had horrible experience with the lifespan of the Home Depot brand (ecosmart or similar) and will not buy those again. Unfortunately that seems to be the only brand they carry now.
And this includes use of those bulbs in open (non-enclosed) fixtures, so heat is not an excuse.

Agreed that some brands are garbage. I've been installing Feit Electric, Amazon Basics, and a few other brands for a while now. They seem to last a good while.

Interesting benchmark for me: When we moved into this house, the basement was lit with over a dozen can lights with 65W floods installed. As I was working from home full time, the basement lights were on basically during waking hours. Replacing the incandescents with the then fairly expensive CFLs dropped our monthly electric bill by roughly enough to buy a new CFL every month. As the CFLs aged and took longer and longer to reach less and less brightness, I eventually made the decision to replace them all with equivalent LED floods. That once again dropped the electric bill by a measurable amount, but not as much as the move from incandescent to CFL. I don't think I've had to replace any of those yet, and it's been several years.

I do average replacing one or two per year in the kitchen (11 LED floods), but they're about $2 each so I'm not really upset about it. We've also got some "wafer style" ceiling lights in our bedroom that have been there for 7 or 8 years with no problems, and our LED front porch light hasn't been changed in long enough that I don't remember how old it is.

I’ve been losing can lights in the kitchen, and apparently it is the type of LED bulbs my wife is buying. Wish I could get it dialed in better.

Since joining POA all the house lights have been LED and I think only one has ever failed, a frosted A19-type bulb (chandeliers and front porch are "Edison" style).

Would not want to be landing a plane in the chicagoland area right now.
I say that after almost having a hilarious, slow motion crash in my own driveway this AM. Lost all traction at <5mph, couldn't brake or turn, and just started spinning and sliding.
I knew we had frozen rain and sleet last night but damn is it icy! I would not want to experience what it's like to land a plane on this!

I assume that winter weather is grounding a large swath of GA pilots. I haven't flown since December.

At least I have my VR sim setup in decidedly non-IMC conditions in my home. Sometimes I feel like hanging up my David Clark headset in lieu of my VR one permanently. VR is a) slightly less likely to kill me, and b) is sunk costs instead of hourly.

Really though, every time I see a block of time that works for my personal schedule and the rental is available, cross-referencing Flight Schedule Pro with the weather forecast immediately puts the kabash on any potential logbook additions. Oh, well. Maybe springtime will be kinder to us.

Totally hear ya.
I normally fly a lot but due to an annoying illness + weather I have done 2 flights in the last 6 weeks. This is just a rough time of year to get out there unless you live further south.
