There's a Vietnamese vegan restaurant relatively close to my home (and very close to my old job) that I used to eat at regularly. The food was delicious and despite some "meat" texture or flavor being slightly different, it was a really satisfying meal. This coming from a guy who is a confessed carnivore.

I will say that Indian food makes it extremely easy to eat vegetarian. I love the spices and there's something very satisfying from eating that food as well. Saag Paneer is my favorite. Unfortunately my wife is Eastern European and is not a fan of spices or sauces... so we don't eat Indian food very often.

I think vegan fare has come a long way. I remember when I was in college and took my then girlfriend camping. We went with soy breakfast sausage since we had no refrigeration. It was nasty... so we threw it to the squirrels who promptly ignored it.

If you can't see the humor in it then I can't explain it to you. To be fair, my wife and both daughters are vegetarians; I'm the only meat eater. We get along just fine and my wife even cooks meat dishes for me. I guess what makes it funny that vegetarians make meat flavored dishes would be the equivalent of a meat eater trying to make a hot dog in the shape of and taste like a carrot.
 
Ah, the never ending quest to make beef taste like and have the consistency of tofu. The person that manages it will be rich beyond their wildest.... oh wait.....

No power. . .thought I'd be 'liminated by now.

Ate a veggie burger, as the freezer isn't. Freezing, that is. Mustard, tomato, lettuce, pickle. . .texture just isn't there.

Vegan. . .how smart do you have to be to sneak up on a leaf?
 
I'm having a homemade veggie slider for lunch. TVP, celery, onion, garlic, tomatoes, all bound together with a bit of egg and four. Browned on my cast iron griddle and served with a bit of ketchup on a homemade sourdough bun. Yum yum.

Almost outdid it. This week I had home made tempe sautéed in barbecue sauce on a sourdough bran bun. Boy was that good. The real trick was making the tempe, it's fungally fermented.

Lunch crowd. Most every fast food place is dead when I drive by it except from 1130-1330.
 
The BKs hereabouts are all filthy dirty, and a number have closed. Indeed, even if I wanted to go there for an impossible burger I'd not know where one was.
 
I used to like Whoppers but Burger King is not on my list of places to go to anymore. There are enough fast food restaurants that offer lettuce wrap that I don't need them.

I think Burger King is doing far, far better than Bendix King. The last time I saw a business fail so spectacularly was when Kodak invented the digital camera and subsequently went bankrupt.

I’m pretty sure the one near my office is doing a pretty good marijuana business out the back door. You see, even though it’s “legal” here, the untaxed stuff is still cheaper than the taxed stuff. And people in that parking lot can just say they bought it from the large legal pot shop behind the BK. Right next to the usual payday loan place and the dollar store and liquor store, like all of our “pot strip malls”.

They all have all of those features and at least one fast food place for the munchies.
