Which gene causes humans to want to breed for unusual animal traits, especially the ones that cause future generations of animals so much grief? There is one to eradicate!
 
Am I the only person who has ever thought that dogs look like the nationalities from which they come?

For instance, tell me a Scottish Terrier doesn't look like a Scotsman:

From which perspective? From the perspective of the wolf they're all pretty much buggered up. However, there are far, far greater number of domesticated dogs than undomesticated wolves. Thus from a biological perspective all these changes, which would never be countenanced by an self-respecting wolf, are highly desirable as they've made the organisms carry them highly successful.
