I could've flown that whole approach eyes outside w/ references to the ASI. That do-hicky looks more of a distraction than anything tbh.

AoA..... Because a Cirrus just doesn't have enough glass for the distinguished pilot anymore.

I have know quite a few salesmen. The ones that the people hate the most seem to sell the most. Nobody gets less respect than a successful salesman. Good salesman have no sense of shame.
 
I need that but I need it in a Google Glass type format so I can have all my instrumentation, airspace, frequencies, checklists, etc, all within my FoV. Then I want some sort of shocking device in the frame to shock the bridge of my nose when I approach stall. That will just be a backup in case I get distracted and ignore the blue donut. Make it happen.

Different, it's not because he is such a hot shot salesman, it's because most of his titles are misleading and annoying. I am not putting that on my plane, but if I were to install a alpha, I'd order it from spruce of my local straight shooting avionics shop, or 10 other places

Funny, many shops are jealous of the success we are having.

That is a relic of an older time. Previously a pushy salesperson was a person who was able to convince you of a product AND had a fair lock on the supply chain.

Nowadays, if you like a product but the salesperson irritates you, you can almost invariably find the product somewhere else quicker and easier. You actually have to go out of your way to buy it from the salesperson directly.

Case and point:
* Click on the link that Maui give above and figure out how long it takes you to find the Alpha Eagle HUD product that he advertises on his website.
-then instead-
* Go to Google, type in "Alpha Eagle HUD". You will find the exact same product for sale quicker someone else. (And $1 cheaper).

So the only reason to actually buy it through Maui is if you like him. Even IF he manages to convince you to buy the product, he's not the cheapest or easiest supplier to get it from - so all that's left is likability, and he's doing a very poor job in making a case for that.

Disregard the closed-minded naysayers, who obviously have more experience posting on forums than in actual flight. AOA is quite possibly the most significant tool in the modern professional pilot's tool kit, and it's use translates nicely from the big iron to our lowly GA steeds. They are blind and can't possibly see that "the earth is round" and will be stuck in the dark ages of aviation.

Keep on selling bro. I hope it saves a life (if it hasn't done so already).

PS - Every fighter pilot I fly with loves AOA and can't figure out why GA hasn't adopted it sooner.
 
I have one client who bought a unit and took it to an avionics shop and they said they would not install it because it wasn't purchased through them. The avionics shop wanted their commission on the unit plus install.

So tell me this. Client A never considered an AoA until they watched our training videos. Now he honored us by purchasing the unit with a discount.

How is the avionics shop
Building any good will for the future of his business?

Instead the shop should have said "wonderful bring it in, and can I interest you in an ads B add on?"

yeah dude, it's a tough crowd here. Lots of folks just can't STFU and if they don't like something they feel the need to bash it and be negative.

When I show young pilots how AOA works and why it is so valuable, it's literally a lightbulb moment for most. It's as primary and as significant as an altimeter or an airspeed indicator!

Keep on pushing dude. Know that about 6,000 USAF fighter pilots got your back and swear by AOA.

Your website doesn't list any mail in rebates for Alpha's. It list them for KLR's. The Alpha's only shows a 10% discount, which makes them $1 more expensive than the leading google search result.

If there is another $150 on top of it, you should update your site.

The 10% is for alpha and the $150 is for Bendix.

Alpha with hud depending on the setup is around $2500 so $250 savings.

Hmm so a white paper by arguably one of the most respected aeronautical engineers, video demonstrations of the impossible turn, base to final overshoot and night landings are spam? Most find them quite useful.

What gives me solace to the critics are that the testimonials of professional test pilots and fighter pilots and other advocates.

Let me ask you, since you seem to know, what kind of video or promo would you do?

By the way the manufacturers love what I produced.
 
Once again, it won't save lives any more than a stall warning device will. If you think it will, you haven't seen someone preoccupied or panic under pressure when they ignore perfectly good data.

Second, the range by going to a max L/D (blue donut) vs a % power (chart) IN A GA AIRCRAFT, would be insignificant.

Third, there is no scientific proof that flying a blue donut on final will result in better landings. Using the book speed for all weights and using a proper sight picture in the flare, will result in good landings. Definitely won't be the difference between life or death or going off the end of the runway. Also, I still have yet to the vid where you touch down with the blue donut on???

It provides a more detailed picture of the lift in reserve. That is all. Anyone with a modicum of aerodynamics should understand 1) the wing stalls based on AoA and not a specific speed and 2) the relationship between AoB and its effect on stall speed. If they don't then maybe an AoA indicator might help them understand how much they don't understand their particular aircraft and their lack of knowledge of aerodynamics.

Edit: To add, I was showing a blue donut for almost the entire 80-90 kts in your vid. You seemed to settle on 83 KIAS to maintain that blue donut. Well, if you would have shot the book (SR22) recommended approach speed for full flaps of 80-85 KIAS, you'd still have a full donut. Proof that your AoA indication isn't going to provide any more benefit than flying the book speed.

Disputing someone's claims is fine, but making fun of, and mocking other members, comes close to the MC definition of personal attack. Don't engage in it. The people who are doing this are more of a problem than the OP.
