Tailgating Cop

When you see them running fast without lights, it is usually so they can make a call in their district. The problem is their girlfriend does not live in the same district they are assigned to. There was a case in very near downtown Houston where the homeowner held the bad guy at shotgun point. The cops arrived "within 10 minutes" The police are minutes away when seconds count.

ah, I thought you meant like this:

Tailgating.................Cops............... :goofy:

Protect and Serve, that one is doing a fine job.

I love it when cops pull over left lane hogs and ticket them! We need more of that in the US. I was once driving with a buddy who kept doing that and hogging the left lane only slightly faster than the speed limit. I just bit my lip. Then a cop car pulls out, lights go on and we get pulled over. Cops says I pulled you over because you are not supposed to be in the left lane unless you're passing.

:lol::lol::lol:

He just lectured us then let us go with a warning.

This was in Texas.

I wish they would do that more here in IL. Driving into work each day on the tollway, when there is a on ramp, you would be amazed at the furious lane switching to go from the on ramp acceleration lane to the far left lane. Some cars just put on the turn signal and just turn until they are in the left lane like its a video game. Every single day. During rush hour. Like they get extra credit for getting into the far left lane in the shortest amount of time. While I sit in the far right land and speed past them as they bunch up the left lane. It mindless driving. "Get on tollway, race to left lane and then sit"

If your in the left lane, you either give way or get pulled over. I hate people who ride in the left lane and won't move over for faster vehicles. The only time I stay in the left lane for a extended amount of time is if I'm the only one on that stretch of road. I-30 tends to have REALLY rough right lanes because of the semi traffic.

I've been pulled over before because the trooper didn't like the sticker I had on my rear window.

I've also been pulled over to be handed some chair fabric for a couch my grandmother was doing for a deputy. That one was funny cause the dude pulled me over in HER driveway.

I saw the same thing out here in nutso SoCal on the 91 freeway. Just being a good citizen on my cycle cause I had already spotted the Sheriff coming up the carpool lane, and I had already spotted Maude Fricket in her full size pickup. She was doing a flat 60 and not moving for anything. I mentally got out my bucket of popcorn and followed along to see the show. This sheriff pulls up about 3 feet off her bumper.....thinking he's getting her attention......totally ignores it and doesn't budge from her 60 by a tenth of a mph. Now he drops back a little and rushes a little more aggressively back up to the bumper and everybody on the freeway can see the face getting redder. Fricket doesn't budge. She's under the speed limit and everybody can go to hell. Same thing after about 3 miles of this aggravation, and its a certainty he wanted to pull the 12 gauge off the rack and just blow this chick to kingdom come......he finally can't take it anymore and hits every light he's got.........you know she went down for the full count..............lol............was the highlight of my commute for the year..........

I don't understand. How fast are we supposed to drive? All you guys cheering the cops for ticketing slow drivers should I speed up then?

I am occasionally a left lane squatting knucklehead.

Reason? There seem to be many times when the road surface varies from the left to the right lane, and often the right lane is appreciably rougher.

Then again, I'm usually pretty close to the speed limit, and do try to pull over when I see someone approaching from the rear. But sometimes I miss them, being human and all that.

BTW, I do not see cops tailgating as endemic. I can't recall the last time I saw it happen, so this may be a case of "the exception proves the rule".

Oh, and this was not a technique taught at the police academy I attended.
I drove about 40 thousand miles a year while working. I was stopped twice - by state trooper in Georgia doing 79 on the interstate. He lowered it to 70 . Very decent dude. The 2nd was NYS trooper, I was following woman in van on interstate, we both were doing ...again ......about 79! He also lowered it to 70! Very friendly and also gave me a break. Never had one tailgate me or be anything but very decent. I on the other hand never argue (dumb) and always give the yes sir, no sir routine. Sometimes local cops are not too swift but the state police usually are pretty hep. Nasty job and dangerous today.too many nuts with guns. Never used to be that way.

1) fast

or

2) faster

or

3) move over

pretty simple.

My son got a ticket for 6 over!! 51 in a 45!! the cop wrote on the ticket, "actual speed 59" :dunno:

Few years ago, I got a ticket for 53 in a 45. I was actually doing 59. Blew through a speed limit change and didn't know it. Here it is typical for an officer or judge to reduce your ticket if you have several years of a clean driving history.

NC law says no insurance points (increase in premium) for speeding tickets less than 9 over the speed limit. That's why my ticket was reduced to 53mph.

Count me a a sometimes left-lane hog, too. If I'm doing at least the speed limit (more likely 5-10 above), and I'm regularly overtaking slower traffic in the right lane, screw the speed demons that think the left lane is for them. Driving while looking to the front is hard enough, I'm not going to monitor my rear to please every lead-footed light-blinking NASCAR wanna-be. If they are going to drive illegally, then let them look for me and switch lanes as needed.

So, do you do this passive-aggressive schtick often?
