Tabbed FAR/AIM

I never had to refer to the FAR AIM in my PP or IFR oral but for prep and the oral why not download the FARs to your computer and then bold and bookmark the portions you need help remembering. It’s also a lot easier to search if you have it electronically rather than on paper.

..this got me in a trap of not preparing enough though.. so proceed with caution advising that. I passed my comm first try, but it was seriously touch and go! I got a lot more prepared for my CFI with the notes prescribed above. In hindsight I can't believe I passed that comm oral  "I know you know how to look this stuff up, but you should be more familiar with regs Mr Commercial!"

That was the short version :D

I’m new to PoA. Been a private pilot for 20+ years. Working toward commercial. Just passed my COMM written test. Looking toward check ride.

I’ve just purchased the 2023 FAR/AIM. Found on the inter webs folks are tabbing their FAR/AIM. I think this is brilliant! I found the companies Lively Aviation and NorthStarVFR.

Any of you guys have thought and opinions on these companies products? Is one better than the other? Are they worth the money?

‘Thanks!

The process of figuring out which sections are worth bookmarking, creating your own bookmarks and finding those appropriate sections in the FAR/AIM is very useful, but simply buying it premade from a store is utterly useless.

There's no such official thing as a 2023 FAR/AIM. Neither the FAR or AIM is issued on a calendar year basis.

I never bookmarked anything even when I carried such things. I had a real AIM from the FAA on my private ride and the Jepp ground school text was my FAR excerpt. I never used anything on my Instrument Ride.
