Syrup

I put it on stuff. not much, not often. but that reminds me, I'm out of syrup.
 
On the very, very few occasions I might eat French toast I'll put some syrup on it but I generally avoid the stuff.
 
If I ever have any its maple. Like Sac, those times are few and far between.

I did that once on a deployment on the carrier. I was told to make the coffee and I don't drink the stuff. I washed the "seasoned" nasty metal coffee maker really, really well with nice, thick soap. :) Never had to make it again.

I consume it on pancakes and waffles, fairly often and in great quantity, then washed down with a tall glass of cold milk. Dang, now I'm hungry.

Sometimes I put it baked beans to add a little sweetness.

Sometimes I drizzle a little on ribs for the final hour of smoking.

I had maple for the first time a few years ago. I can use nothing else now.

A few years ago there was a headline about thieves who stole something like a million gallons of maple. I understood completely.

I take mine on a regular basis with waffles and sometimes French toast. (I was wondering whether French should be capitalized when my iPad did it for me. Huh.)
 
I thought I knew what syrup was until I moved to MA and started buying the stuff from the local sugar shacks. Completely different, and so much better.
 
Some guys are into art, I'm into syrups!

We got some really good local organic stuff up here, mostly use it instead of sugar in my coffee, really good and probably better for me compared to processed and packaged and shipped from god knows where sugar.

I have to admit that, even though I've lived here for 2+ years, I've yet to try this stuff. It's on my bucket list, I just so rarely use syrup of any kind that it will probably go to waste if I buy even a small quantity of it.

Okay that does it, I have to try it...

I've not done it, but I have a friend who lives in Vermont and sugars every year. 40 gallons of sap will make a gallon of syrup. He does it the old fashioned way, boils over a wood fire. Friends who have helped him say it's quite a chore.
 
Picked this up a few weeks ago at our weekly town farmer's market...infused with Habanero and Chipotle because spicy!

Dang, she yelled back "no". Actually, the full answer was "hell no, what the hell?" :D

This also reminds me of some nasty beer that a friend brought the other day. It was "maple syrup and bacon" flavored. Worst sh*t I've drunk in my life. Nasty. I wouldn't wish it onto an enemy. Yech.

Now I need to down a bottle of pure Canadian maple syrup from Vermont. Gimme gimme gimme! :)
 
We have 50 honeybee hives, so honey is our "syrup". Our family of four goes through 16 qts per year. A qt is 44 oz by wt. We sell at our three local farmers' markets.

For 42 years, it was "the Loachapoka Syrup Sopping," where cane syrup was ground and sold, and poured over fresh biscuits. In the tiny village of Loachapoka, AL, where the speed limit on the highway through "town" is 45 mph and there are just a few people the other 363 days of the year.
 
No syrup here usually or extremely light, barely enough to taste it. Real maple if possible. I usually just butter pancakes.

All jokes aside, you really should try it, side note, in VT they even have a vodka that's distilled from maple.

Go fly to Burlington, heritage will hook you up with the little ones, local VT stuff too! Also one of the best FBOs around.

Pretty sure I can pick up that stuff (or similar) at City Market Coop in Burlington. (Even if I wasn't grounded, I could drive there quicker than I could drive to the airport, preflight, and fly to KBTV. ;))

As far as kicking me out of VT, they'll do that anyways. I've yet to try Ben & Jerry's ice cream (oh the horror!).

(I did try their sherbet last year, but not the real ice cream.)
